What's new

Simple'72 Revamp

Started in on the floor this weekend and actually went quicker than I was expecting. Rear section will have a removable aluminum panel I'm thinking and the plans is to get a flatty rear folding bench seat to be able to quickly install if I need to shuttle passengers for whatever reason. For the time being it'll just provide a platform for my cooler and tool box.

Seam sealer should be showing up to tonight so hopefully get that checked off the list. Pulled the axle back out last night and starting to finish weld that along with prepping for paint. The goal is to have it together by the 17th to be able to do a shakedown/elk scouting trip the following weekend. Yes, I have my work cut out for me but I think its doable!

Definitely not gonna weld 100% because I know it'd warp like crazy and drive me nuts. Honestly probably just gonna leave it as is and run it lol

I snapped a few more pics along the way that I'll post up later. I've been under the gun trying to get this thing whipped by this upcoming weekend lol Upper springs for the coilovers aren't supposed to show until Friday evening and of course I gotta leave in the early am Saturday.

Looking good! Maybe I missed it but how many gallons are you squeakin in there?

Really liking the design and fab work on this one. Very well executed.

Rear corners built with some light duty aluminum, worked some storage into the rear, and built some mufflers 👍

Outer chamber got some packing before welding the cap on. These are mounted on the sides and then shoe horned in a vibrant resonator right in front of rear axle. Much quieter now, but still loud lol

Old stainless bros resonator vs vibrant. Night and day difference in volume.

When I built the chassis I did it in a way to route the exhaust decent, but kinda spaced about mufflers lol The only thing I could fit was a super 10 and I had it all hacked up. It was easier to make a muffler that fit the space than trying to modify an off the shelf muffler. Cheaper too!!

I still want to try and get it to exit all the way out the back, but space is insanely tight at full bump.

What's this thing weigh?
When I first finished it, it was 3800ish if I remember correctly without me or tools in it. I'm curious what it weighs nowadays as well.

May have to grab scales from work tonight to see
