My Take:
As a kid I was attacked by a pit bull at about 6 years old not my family dog. We had 3 pit bulls at the time so I thought it was like my dogs at home I was wrong. Needless to say yea I got bit in the face but that was it. The dog was chained up and broke loose. After that incident the dog was caged. We lived in the country so we had ours chained up in the yard well at least 2 of the 3. The third was in a kennel it had a 5 foot wall he would jump it wander off and always come back and be sitting on his house at night acting like he never left.
Eventually they all passed on due to age. Oddly enough the only dogs that they attacked were each other. Any other dog could walk in the yard they could care less.
But what I hate is the bullshit agenda of people trying to praise them as innocent animals. Yes I will admit I was taken to dog fights as a kid. None of ours were ever used for that nature. I had some shady former inlaws so to speak back in the 80s.
As for the agendas. Don't tell me they are cute and innocent and get bad raps. If that were the case why are there so many of the fucking things in animal shelters. Because people don't know what they got into. If you are not a home owner well you want a roof you live by someone else's rules. Hence the shelter solution. Or people have children and now the dog is all of a sudden a threat.
Then lets throw in clipping ears and tails. Fuck that nonsense. I personally would never own another one and I don't think they should continue to be bred as they are. If you look at the owners of most of them they are usually not that innocent themselves I have learned.
On a side note living in south florida currently it really pisses me off to see the number of people with large dogs that people have while living in high rise condos and apartments. I mean seriously who needs a fucking saint bernard living on Brickell in a studio apartment. Thats not even fair to the dog and then the piece of shit owners cant figure out why the dogs hesitate to go back into the building after leaving a miniature pyramid on the sidewalk.

Reputation doesn't mean shit. Border Collies have the reputation of being sweethearts. A Border Collie gnawed my cousin's ear off when he was 6. Pit bulls have a reputation of being vicious- yet for 19 years i grew up on a farm with pitbulls and never even witnessed one bark at another person, let alone bite or attack.
Use the data however you want but "reputation of being" is just ridiculous. Cmon angry guy, you can do better.

I work with a lady thats all pro pitbull, constantly talking her two up. She came to work with her hand bandaged due to pitbull attack from one of her "babies". She took them both to the shelter. Glad it didn't attack her infant son.
There has been a pitbull attack here in the RV park in the last 6 months. Pit bull attacked another dog after the pitbull pulled out of its collar.
I'm not a fan of them.

Our neighbors run cattle on three sides of us during certain times of the year (I don’t know about raising beef ). The beef and the dog will sit at the fence line and sniff each other. One time I went out to find a calf licking my dogs face, he just looked back at me like “These are friendly”

Adults don't give one shit about anecdotal experience in cases like this. Insurance companies are not in the business to refuse to insure you or drive you off with high rates. Apartment complexes are not in the business to refuse to lease to pit bull owners. That's not how it works.

After attacking me, I resisted shooting the dog while warning my niece that her dog was a problem. He bit three other people before he had to be put down
We have had Pits sharing our roof for over twenty five years with no human aggression issues ever

A buddy of mine had one stolen from him. Pupped out and beat on. Showed back up at his house about 8months later just happy and fun as could be to be home again.

And FWIW I'm friends with one of the guys rolling around in your head. You never met him. That's interesting you say that. We had a 3/4 Pug Jack Russell cross, he was great up until about 9mths when he started getting extremely jealous and was aggressive towards our other dog whenever she was getting attention. There was nothing we could do positive or negative to discourage the behaviour so we re-homed him with the caveat of being the sole dog. His new family were experienced dog owners and he did well for a number of weeks until he started showing the same behaviour but this time it was directed towards their 9mth old baby (he was great with their older kids 7&4) They ended up passing him on to her mum who is an older lady who was on her own and he's apparently happy as a pig in shit.
Imo dogs are like humans, some are awesome no matter what they go through, most are normal with their own quirks, some are traumatized by their life and some are just plain psycho. Judging a single breed by the actions of some is overkill but at the same time making excuses for bad behaviour doesn't help either.
We try to breed out physical health issues so why not do the same with mental issues?

Behavioral issues have been bred out of GSDs and Doberman Pincers. Those are two dogs which were specifically bred for aggression and high energy, but in the 1970s they started getting a bad reputation. Docility was bred into them. The lines are distinct enough that people seeking the characteristics of a GSD, the sloping back and smaller rear legs, large powerful neck, upright ears, coloration, etc, chose to buy 'legitimate' dogs which were also bred down in aggression.
There is only one type of aggression despite what (Got bit all the time) Caesar says. The dog can manifest it other ways, but aggression comes from the endocrine system of an animal including structures in its brain. There is no physical distinction between food aggression and people aggression, lol. That's ridiculous Psuedoscience.
That can't happen with Pit Bulls. Their breeding record is basically ghettoites beating a batch of puppies and figuring out which ones respond with aggression, and which ones cower. The cowering ones are used as bait dogs, and the aggressive ones are bred and fought. The characteristics of 'Pit Bulls' are not distinct, and the characteristics people want out of them are aggression, strength, and intimidating looks.
That's why Pibble owners claim "Buh-but there's no real pit bull! Buh-but mine is an American Staffordshire Terrier!" when that's all nonsense. Pibbles are a genetic mess, inbred, high-strung, and vicious. They should be eliminated. There is no salvaging that genetic dead-end.
