the city controls the onramps and can divert traffic as they deem fit. just like if there were a major accident, the army corps of engineers or department of the interior isn't going to show up and close the road, so the local folks are treating the protest as a road blocking incident and bypassing cars accordingly. yes, it is beyond reasonable. also, this highlights that the road to hell is paved with good intentions and that the liberal application of government control, while intended to be helpful, is always worse than not. traffic was never blocked for this long the first days/weeks before the shutdowns started and nobody was killed or seriously injured. Potential there? ABSOLUTELY! does it really matter? NO! Death and serious injury occurred regardless, and likely was worse than otherwise would have been because of SDOT
