Russia / Ukraine thread

On Thursday, a top Kremlin official warned that by admitting Ukraine into NATO, the west risks descent into a third world war.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky recently asked for fast-track membership, however the security alliance has not yet voted on whether his nation will be allowed to join.

According to Reuters, deputy secretary of Russia's Security Council Alexander Venediktov’s warning was quoted by TASS, a state-owned media outlet.

"Kyiv is well aware that such a step would mean a guaranteed escalation to World War Three," Venediktov said, referring to Ukraine joining NATO. He suggested that, "The suicidal nature of such a step is understood by NATO members themselves."

On Friday, Zelensky called for the West to take “preventive action” against Putin, urging allies not to wait “for the nuclear strikes first.”

"What NATO has to do to prevent or deter the use of nuclear weapons by Russia," Zelensky argued, is take "preventive strikes, preventive action" so that Russia would get a sense of the consequences were they to deploy nuclear weapons.

Venediktov warned against such tactics, reminding Zelensky and his allies that all out war would have impacts far beyond Russia and Ukraine.

"We must remember: a nuclear conflict will affect absolutely the whole world — not only Russia and the collective West, but every country on this planet," Venediktov said. "The consequences would be disastrous for all mankind."

Putin had recently said in a speech that, "those who try to blackmail [Russia] with nuclear weapons should know that the prevailing winds can turn in their direction," leading many to worry about what the world’s reaction would be if threats were actually acted upon.

President Biden warned that Putin was "not joking" about the potential use of nuclear weapons, adding that any use of such weapons would lead to "armageddon."

"First time since the Cuban missile crisis, we have the threat of a nuclear weapon if in fact, things continue down the path they are going," he said. "We are trying to figure out, what is Putin’s off-ramp? Where does he find a way out?"

The ONLY people talking about nukes is the WEST propaganda machine. More demonizing, 20 years worth now.

:shaking:

Post-edit: Does Biden even know what "armageddon" is (Megiddo)? It's a place in the middle east. Guess he never got briefed by his foreign policy hacks. But it's sounds dangerous. Last battle between Good and Evil? Which side does he think he's on? :homer: :clown::clown::clown:

For another perspective check out this channel on Telegram. I joined Telegram just so I could see what was going on. She is an independent journalist from Canada.

Eva Bartlett: About Me

I've seen many of her videos, posted quite a few of them in here before.

She's solid, and up there close. Or she used to be. Might be getting dangerous.

She exposed quite a few "killing fields" and mass graves when the Azov/others were pushed out early in the OP.

Memory holed. Now that the UKR is laughably calling for war crime tribunals, they better be ready for actual evidence (that's been held back) to bite them in the ass.

Cheap tech is getting nuts.

Human life is cheap to the elites.

One has to wonder if leaders would be as boisterous and war hawkish as they are if they didn't have bunkers to slink off to. Or if were there asses out there.

Sad state of affairs when American citizens don't know if they should listen to American propaganda or Russian. And have legitimate reasons for distrusting both.

Meanwhile inflation and energy prices got people here hoping they can afford to feed their kids.

Sigh

Are we really just supposed to forget the Ukraine was the playground for corruption for the bidens?
And the focal point of the attempted impeachment of a president?
No matter how you cut it, it's corrupt as fuck.

And no one is sitting down and asking "da fuq is really goin' awn ova der?" Before following a dementia ridden sock puppet to war?

FUCKIN REALLY?

Curious if those actually penetrated the armour of the tanks. Not sure if they use a shaped charge or what. Videos don't show the tank cooking off afterwards.

I doubt they damaged the tanks at all. More like harassing the troops near it. Like that van.

They're asking that bubblegum brain to stop a war?

The Pentagon and State department addressed Nato. As usual strong Russian bias. Most talking points false. These clown are the one who address congress. Unless theres a change on US foreign policy we will stay in this conflict until all Ukraines are dead and perhaps us.

Russia's latest attacks in Ukraine have shown the "malice and cruelty" of Russian President Vladimir Putin's "war of choice," and have strengthened the resolve among Ukraine's allies in their support of Kyiv, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III said today in Brussels.

"Russia's latest barrage against Ukraine's cities has again killed and wounded innocent civilians and put targets with no military purpose in the crosshairs," the secretary said about the strikes targeting civilian populations and infrastructure.

Austin delivered the remarks as he opened a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group with defense ministers and chiefs of defense from nearly 50 nations.

"The whole world has just seen yet again the malice and cruelty of Putin's war of choice, rooted in aggression, and waged with deep contempt for the rules of war," he said.

Spotlight: NATO
Austin, who chaired the talks at NATO headquarters, held a news conference with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Mark A. Milley following the meeting.

Indiscriminate and deliberate attacks on civilian targets is a war crime under the international rules of war, Milley stated.

"Russia has deliberately struck civilian infrastructure with the purpose of harming civilians," he said. "They have targeted the elderly, the women and the children of Ukraine."

The gathering of the contact group underscores the resolve of the international community after Russia's "cruel and unprovoked invasion" and most recent "deliberate cruelty," Austin said.

"Russia's atrocities have further united the nations of goodwill that stand with Ukraine," he said, adding that Putin has given the world another "grim preview of a future in which the appetites of aggressive autocrats outweigh the rights of peaceful states."

Austin thanked Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov and Ukraine's Joint Forces Commander, Maj. Gen. Eduard Moskaliov, for attending the contact group session.

He said the Ukrainians provided an update on the battlefield dynamics and priority needs and requirements for Ukrainian self-defense for the long haul.

The secretary said the Ukrainian forces have defended themselves "magnificently" and have made "extraordinary" gains in the battlefield.

"They've liberated hundreds of towns from Russian occupation, and they've retaken thousands of square kilometers of their land," he said. "These victories belong to Ukraine's soldiers, but the contact group's security assistance, training and sustainment efforts have been vital. We've made tremendous progress by working together."

221012-D-TT977-0058.jpg

Ukraine's courage is inspiring, he said.

"We've watched as Putin tries to force untrained, unwitting Russian civilians to the front lines," he said. "And we've seen the stark contrast with Ukraine, which has shown the world that the military and moral power of a free people fighting for their democracy and their sovereignty prevails."

Members of the contact group have committed billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine, along with humanitarian and financial assistance.

U.S. security assistance to Ukraine since the start of Russia's invasion in February now totals some $16.8 billion, Austin said, noting the United States is increasingly posturing itself to support Ukraine's defense needs for the challenging months and years ahead.

The contact group will continue to boost Ukraine's defensive capabilities for pressing urgent needs and for the long term, Austin said.

Russia has escalated the conflict, according to the chairman, with the attacks against civilian targets, recent mobilization of 300,000 conscripts, and attempted "illegal annexation" of four oblasts in occupied Ukrainian. An oblast is an administrative division, much like a region or province.

Austin described as a "sham" Putin's attempt to annex Ukrainian territory.

"Countries around the globe have rejected Putin's grim vision of a world where big powers can trample borders by force," he said. "And proud people in Europe and far beyond have stood up for the rules-based international order that keeps us all secure."

Austin noted with concern Putin's language about nuclear weapons.

"Nuclear saber rattling is reckless and irresponsible," he said. "We don't expect to see and hear that kind of behavior from a major nuclear power, and so that's very dangerous."

Beware of foriegn entanglements
Beware the military industrial complex
Why do these fuckers keep wanting us to fight other peoples wars, and now they want to go try their nukes!

The Era Of Cheap Food And Cheap Gasoline Is Over

Authored by Michael Snyder via TheMostImportantNews.com,
All of our lifestyles are about to change in a major way, but the vast majority of the population still does not understand what is coming. Throughout our entire lives, we have always been able to depend on a couple of things. There would always be cheap gasoline to fuel our vehicles and there would always be mountains of cheap food at the grocery store. No matter who was in the White House and no matter what else was going on in the world, those two things always remained the same. Unfortunately, those days are now over and they aren’t coming back.
Game-Over-Thank-You-For-Playing-Pixabay-800x424.jpg
We have entered the greatest energy crisis that any of us have ever experienced, and it isn’t going to go away any time soon.
So you might as well get used to high gas prices. Earlier this month, brand new all-time record highs were set all over southern California
  • Los Angeles-Long Beach – $6.46 (Record high)
  • Orange County – $6.42 (Record high Saturday)
  • Ventura County – $6.40
  • Riverside County – $6.33 (Record high)
  • San Bernardino County $6.32
But that isn’t the real problem.
The real problem is with natural gas.
Thanks to the war in Ukraine, supplies of natural gas in Europe have become extremely tight, and this has pushed prices into the stratosphere.
Needless to say, this is going to greatly affect food productions in the months ahead. According to Bloomberg, over two-thirds of all fertilizer production capacity in Europe has already been shut down due to soaring natural gas costs…
Europe’s fertilizer crunch is deepening with more than two-thirds of production capacity halted by soaring gas costs, threatening farmers and consumers far beyond the region’s borders.
This is an absolutely massive story, but hardly anyone in the United States is covering it.
Global fertilizer production is going to be greatly reduced, and that is going to have very serious implications for agricultural production all over the world…
“Nitrogen plant shutdowns in Europe are not simply a problem in Europe,” she said. “Reduced supply on the scale seen this week not only raises the marginal cost of production of nitrogen fertilizers, but will also tighten the global market, putting pressure on plant nutrients’ availability in Europe and beyond.”
We’re already seeing prices elsewhere rise again. The price of the common nitrogen fertilizer urea in New Orleans rose over 20% in weekly prices Friday, the most since March, a few weeks after the war began, according to Green Markets.
I know that fertilizer may not be the most exciting topic for a lot of people, but the truth is that approximately half the global population would starve if we didn’t have any…
In fact, it’s estimated that nitrogen fertilizer now supports approximately half of the global population. In other words, Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch — the pioneers of this technological breakthrough — are estimated to have enabled the lives of several billion people, who otherwise would have died prematurely, or never been born at all.
Let that paragraph sink in for a moment.
The only way we can even come close to feeding everyone on the planet is by using vast quantities of fertilizer, but now fertilizer plants all over Europe are being forced to shut down because of the price of natural gas.
As long as this global energy crisis persists, the global food crisis will also persist.
Russia is normally the largest exporter of natural gas in the entire world, and an end to the war in Ukraine would go a long way toward solving our current problems.
But there isn’t going to be an end to the war in Ukraine.
Once again, western leaders are assuring us that the war will not end until Russia is forced out of every inch of Ukrainian territory.
That includes Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea.
Of course the Russians would use tactical nukes long before we ever get to that point.
And once the Russians use tactical nukes, the west will do the same.
As it currently stands, there is no “off ramp” for this war.
Instead, we are simply counting down the days until it goes nuclear.
I am sorry to tell you that, but it is the truth.
If the American people truly understood what was at stake, there would be massive peace protests all over the nation right now.
Meanwhile, the worst multi-year megadrought in 1,200 years continues to absolutely ravage agricultural production in the western half of the United States.
A reporter from FOX recently visited the cornfields of Wayne County, Nebraska and what he discovered is extremely chilling
“I’m standing in the middle of a cornfield that, if this was a normal year or in other words, if the corn was growing the way it was supposed to be, you wouldn’t even really be able to see me right now,” FOX Business’ Connell McShane reported from Wakefield, Nebraska. “It would be way up above my head. But now I look at this, maybe knee-high at best.”
McShane visited field after field in Wayne County and found the same short stalks with very sparse ears. Over 99% of that county is in exceptional drought.
This drought has been going on for years and years.
And it just keeps getting worse.
On the west coast, we are being warned that production of tomatoes, garlic and onions will be very disappointing this year due to the drought.
As a result, prices are going to go much higher in 2023…
In addition to tomatoes, other crops like garlic and onion are also expected to be impacted.
“What you’re seeing harvested this summer that really hasn’t even hit the grocery shelf is a 25% increase in the cost of the product to the processors — the canners, the buyers downstream,” California State Board of Food and Agriculture President Don Cameron told Reuters. “The onions and garlic have already been negotiated for 2023 with another 25% increase in price.”
This is really happening.
Food prices may seem high to you right now, but the truth is that this is the lowest that they are going to get.
The cost of living is becoming extremely oppressive, and countless people out there are really struggling to make it from month to month.
Earlier today, I came across a tweet from a 47-year-old lawyer that really hammered this point home…
-20 years ago, working as a server, I lived in a corner 1 bdrm apt downtown with amazing water views for $700/month.
-A similar apt now $3,600/month, more than 5x as much.
-As a lawyer at age 47 I am unable to afford living in the apartment I did at age 27 while waiting tables
Sadly, what we have been through so far is just the beginning.
The cost of gasoline is going to continue to go up.
The cost of natural gas is going to continue to go up.
The cost of food is going to continue to go up.
In fact, the cost of just about everything is going to continue to go up.
The artificially-inflated lifestyles that we were able to enjoy for decades are now disappearing, and there is a tremendous amount of pain on the horizon.
We were warned that this would happen, and now a day of reckoning is here.
I would encourage you to prepare accordingly.

Theres another talk on this from A Son of the American Revolution.

his resistance to accepting that propaganda is all around us reminds me of how investors resist the truth of the damage being done by the FED, which the FED needs to keep doing.

According to conventional economic policy, the FED needs to let doomed business models fail so that the collateral can be redeployed within the context of a capital structure that the assets can support.

The last sentence is critical to understand. Anyone familiar with bankruptcy restructuring understands this. In business bankruptcy, the production assets are either liquidated into the market place at extremely distressed prices, or the capital structure is replaced with a structure which the assets can support. The latter is a process of cancelling the existing equity, and replacing the existing debt with new debt and equity that can be supported by the collateral, e.g., improvements to the real estate and the plant and fixtures. This process often cancels jobs, which should never have created to begin with, but keeps labor structure intact, which is needed to operate the business efficiently and with employs folks with the appropriate skill sets.

This is an extraordinarily painful process for an entire nation to endure, but when complete, the nation, in theory, emerges as globally competitive.

If a family buys a home that stretches their ability to pay, but they do the deal because they got a very low interest rate, its only a matter of time before the family defaults. The house doesn’t go away, but the lender forecloses and sells it to a new owner, who can afford it and keeps it in good shape. The fate of the original family, who loses their home, is ignored.

Same process applies to an over-leveraged business model, which fails to support its debt and defaults.

The FED’s goal is get slow job creation so that demand for goods declines to a level that does not continue to push prices higher. You need equilibrium. You need a economy where people may need to pay through the nose to own a standard refrigerator, but back off from buying those very expensive luxury refrigerators, which you often see in the homes of politicians, such as Pelosi, Shumer, Nadler, Crist, Buchannan, etc.

Once purchasing power matches household income, the economy will be in more of an equilibrium state. Again, that is the theory. So, the demand curve slides a little more to the left, and takes the supply curve with it, and that is how prices reach equilibrium and stop rising. Granted, if you need to replace your compressor, you will pay the inflated price if you can get one, or you will reluctantly replace your refrigerator.

The FED will bring the FED Funds rate up to the intersection of the inflation rate, which is why, in the past, the FED raised rates slowly. AS the FED Funds rate rises, the inflation rate declines. Once they are at equilibrium, the FED can stand down and let the economy cure itself of inflationary expectations for wages, goods and services.

All of this is very clinical and sterile as long as we ignore the human cost. But the the human cost of this “adjustment” is devastating. People will die, children will go hungry and families who were middle class will find themselves staring at poverty. The pain can translate into political instability if the economic contagion spreads.

As a side comment, the Democrats have instituted policies at both national and state levels that discourage people from going to work, causing labor prices ro rise due to the appearance of labor shortages.

This year’s election could be the most important election in the 21st Century. If the Democrats keep both chambers, the American Republic, as a safe haven for capitalism and free market resource allocation, is doomed, permanently. The Democrats will shut down all domestic mining for resources in the ground, confiscate arms and private wealth, and incarcerate anyone who objects.

The longer Biden suppresses investment in oil and gas production, the more severe the energy shortages will be beginning in late 2023. We will see imbalances push demand for energy and prices up sharply in December of 2022 but watch out for December of 2023!

And this will cause chains of business debt default right here in the USA!

If the GOP takes control of both chambers, it faces a stark choice–act decisively to isolate Biden, Harris, Myorkas, etc and stop funding the war in UKraine or tread water with the business as usual nonsense and get the blame for the economic turmoil that is likely to roil America during the next two years. The big unknown is whether the Republican majority will repudiate Biden’s Ukraine policy. In any event, this election is more important than any. This election is the Pivot not just for the USA, but the world as a whole.

A group of "elite" Iranian troops have stealthily entered Ukraine to help the Russian armies along the front lines of battle, according to an exclusive report from The Daily Mirror.
The report reveals that up to 50 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps specialists were deployed to Ukraine, with the intent of training Russian forces in how to use so-called "kamikaze" drones.
The Iranian experts have reportedly been sent to the southern and eastern front with "hundreds of Shahed-136 drones," which have been "hammering" Ukrainian cities.
And according to the Mirror, some of these Iranian specialists have already played a role in controlling the flight path and target pursuits of the Shahed-136 drones.
The Mirror report apparently adds to the "growing concerns" of the Russian armies needing alternative weaponry in their military conflict with Ukraine — which first launched on Feb. 24 — because they might be running out of standard missiles.
According to Mirror sources, Ukraine's artillery and drone teams recently destroyed a Shahed-136 base in the southern territory.
"At least one of the Iranian training teams has been hit recently and they are actively being hunted down," a Ukrainian military source told the Mirror. "We have been concerned for some time that [Iranian] specialists are helping Russia in their terrible attacks on civilians and they are of course being targeted."

This I believe is one of the main reasons everyone in power wants to destroy the Abraham Accords. If there is significant peace in the ME then those countries would probably fight with, not necessarily physical, any country in the region that is screwing it up for everyone else. But without them it will be back to normal, 10 years ago, and the fighting will continue. Iran can only be brought to heal by other ME countries, zero chance an outsider will do it without committing genocide
