Rich men north of Richmond?

is reading comprehension that difficult? he released this 08/20/23 :flipoff2:

''Since I saw that clip of Oliver Anthony singing his song 'Rich Men North of Richmond', the ghost of Woody Guthrie has been whispering in my ear. "Help that guy out" Woody keeps telling me "Let him know there's a way to deal with those problems he's singing about". So today I sat down and wrote this response to Mr Anthony's song, for people like him and people like you.''
Tell me that you know nothing about how the world actually works OR that you're a die hard communist piece of shit, without telling me...

Yeah, Paying dues to even more fat cats who are on the dole and in cahoots with the politicians will really solve your problems. :shaking:

I'd say he's a boot licking communist pile of shit. 🤷
Stephen William Bragg (born 20 December 1957) is an English singer-songwriter and activist. His music blends elements of folk music, punk rock and protest songs, with lyrics that mostly span political or romantic themes. His music is centred on change and activist causes.

So my first impression was correct.

I don't see why so many people need to hero worship their entertainers.
i like the song and it strikes a chord with me. Seems like it has struck a chord with millions of others as well.
I like music that's just 1 or possibly 2 people pouring their soul out into a song usually accousticly. The more depressing the better. Can't stand rap, Nashville country or pop.
The guy seems pretty genuine and I'll listen to his stuff when I want or feel like it.
Trumpsters are going to turn on him when he won't bend the knee to the republican machine, or decide that he isn't conservative enough for their bona-fides.

I haven’t read them all, but I’ve seen several article headlines where this guy is saying he doesn’t align with the right or left and just wants to be left alone. He also calls out the conservative news channels for trying to identify with him when he says his songs are as much about conservatives as liberals.

He sings about average guy problems, not politics. I am just fine with him not picking sides, that is how it should be. I don't want or need another entertainer or celebrity mouthing off about how I should vote.
I agree. There's a lot of right wing folks that are going to have a hard time with that though, especially if he keeps pushing back.

He made a statement the other day (video) talking about them using his song at the GOP debate and he found it funny because the song is about every person that was on the stage.

He's saying what many of us have said....they're all looking to screw us over regardless the letter beside their name.

That minority is small compared to the number of disenfranchised blue collar people out there.

Just look at Trump for that. My waaaaaaaaay RW friends didn't like him because he wasn't "right enough" but he carried just fine without them.

Proud of this guy. He could've easily leaned into right wingism and made BANK. Every Republican candidate would've been sucking his dick for an endorsement or to license the song or to appear on stage with them. He could've gone full Aaron Lewis and sold out venues for concerts that were basically a bit of music as a soundtrack for a political rally. It pains me to say that about Lewis because the guy is a phenomenal talent but it is what it is.

To come out and say that listen, this isn't a right wing thing, it isn't a left wing thing it's a fuck the entire establishment thing is fucking awesome. Finally someone who with a platform that I'm actually decently aligned with.

It's been stated by others, this is the "revolution" song of a generation. It's slapping all of the political and corporate BS square in the nose and stating every single one of them is the problem.

Do shit on your own terms as long as it doesn't impede on others.

A path less traveled is much more satisfying.

Good on him for calling out both sides for being the problem.
If these pos politicians had an ounce of integrity they would do some introspection on the division and polarization of the country.
Why would they do that? It would focus the eye on them as the cause of the issues. Its easier to create fake enemies and let people run around arguing with each other.

The parties will continue to play up division until some more effective strategy for increasing their power emerges.

The question is whether or not this will happen before or after the division turns into a civil war, the economic output they love skimming is destroyed and 50% of all politicians of all parties lose their heads.

I'm liking the sound of that....
