Lol that’s what it looks like when you run a fab shop. Welders eat a ton of kWh.Damn dude, turn a light off once in awhile!

I mean, those are just really really really bright lightsLol that’s what it looks like when you run a fab shop. Welders eat a ton of kWh.
I was noticing that I could see underneath my flatbed a lot better while welding than when I had the dark glass flipped up.I mean, those are just really really really bright lights
FYI I am being told the 30% is coming back with the new Biden bills.sweet
I've gotta get on that shit before the tax credit goes away
why rigid conduit to start and not EMT throughout?
EMT seems to do fine outdoors, you just stick the service entrance head on with one of the compression fittings and a glob of silicone
Wow, I wouldn't use that in 6 months.i hit 2447 last month on a 1600 sqft house. but i think every day was 100 plus. and grandkids running in and out.
How do you heat?Wow, I wouldn't use that in 6 months.
100% wood.How do you heat?
Same, just curious if the "cooling" costs are just redistributed somewhere else.100% wood.
Yes, the cost of materials/labor to support PV structure is part of the installation. Not sure if it was covered here.
I had some solar people quote a system for my house. I said I was holding off until I get my roof replaced. They stated that if I get my roof replaced I can include that cost in the total value for solar for tax credit purposes. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have read conflicting reports. I am also curious if it is complete roof cost or...?
My roof replacement is $15,000
I was going to hold off a year or 2 to do solar simply because I am busy, but if I can include roof cost that is another $4,500 or so that could be used towards solar.
$15000 roof
$15000 solar (guess at DIY price)
$9000 30% tax credit
This would mean I could get $15,000 in solar for $6000.
I read that somewhere as well. Supposed to be 30% through 2032.FYI I am being told the 30% is coming back with the new Biden bills.
With the new IRS agents it will probably be stopped.Yes, the cost of materials/labor to support PV structure is part of the installation.
That is the genesis of the solar car ports, solar pergolas that you will see.
Please breakdown for an idiot. I have been told by different people that the tax credit only takes off my money that you owe the feds. Say I did the same 30K and had a $9K credit, if I owed the feds say $5K in taxes that it would be $0 owed and I could roll the remaining over to the following year. Not sure if it was covered here.

I burn 9 cord (cord=4x4x8 stacked) a year on average. I get most of it from salvaging left over butts and tops from logged parcels a few months after the logging company has left. It's about the best form of self motivating exercise I've found.Same, just curious if the "cooling" costs are just redistributed somewhere else.
I can order a half cord for $225 delivered and stacked so I don't even fuck with cutting wood anymore. I'll burn 3/4 cord a winter if its cold, less if it's normal.
Refund has fuck all to do with it. The tax you "owe" means the total tax liability for the year. If your liability is 10K, you overpayed a lot and you're owed a 10K refund, the 9K tax credit would make that a 19K refund.I have also been told that it means nothing if I get a refund from the feds and basically there is no tax advantage.
my neighbor burns 20 lolI'll burn 3/4 cord a winter if its cold, less if it's normal.

As for tax credit, etc, you have to prove how much you spent? Anything for DIY like discussed above?
"$15000 roof
$15000 solar (guess at DIY price)
$9000 30% tax credit
This would mean I could get $15,000 in solar for $6000."
On a DIY, keep you receipts? I mean.......I can find receipts.
Being self employed I typically write a check q1 of the next year. So my taxable amount is reduced by the credited amount. That would be fawking awesomeas long as you has at least $9k withheld throughout the calendar year, you get a check for $9k back.
so in your scenario if you paid or withheld at least $4k through the calendar year , then Uncle Sam sends you a check.
A roof that is under trees in the shade growing moss isn't likely a good candidate for roof mounted solar.for those that have a system on the roof
what is roof maintenance like? Up here it is warm and wet, so leaves, pine needles, moss, and what happens when you have to replace/repair the roof? Uninstall all your solar?
as cool as it sounds I'm just not sold on it
you desert guys probably have a different view on things

but then arent you having to claim that invoice as revenue on you company taxes? On my RV when I did this I just had my company create a invoice for the install, it was small potatoes but I would do the same for a big one.
yeah like I said a $2k install on a RV doesn't matter a bunch, a $35k install would need to be setup correctly.but then arent you having to claim that invoice as revenue on you company taxes?
I don't know how to export it that fancy, but here's some billing data from our system. We fired it up in September of 2021. All the numbers in red are what they had to pay back to us:DATA!

I knock the snow off mine once in a while, but usually the wind takes care of it, then a touch of sun, and they melt right off. That's only on my small (6kw) array - I can't reach the big array (16' wall shop).for those that have a system on the roof

I'm waiting for this to be an issue where I am. We are surrounded by wind and farm fields, so everything here gets covered under a layer of dust pretty quickly (I gave up on washing our cars more than once or twice a year or I would be doing it every weekend). We're also in California so we're probably never gonna get rain again(I kid of course, we'll probably get some in 2027), so I'm waiting to see at what point I have to go up on our roof with a hose. So far I haven't noticed a drop in output. The occasional rain rinses off the dust in the meantime.
