I doubt my reasoning makes any sense, but I'm currently making some big-dollar purchases right now before they install Harris.

About $20K went to a new-to-me car which I kind of needed anyway. But $20K was a splurge when there are reliable $8K cars out there. Also about to drop another $10K to have my driveway paved.

$9k in tree removal in October. Needed a crane to get them out of power lines otherwise I’d do it myself. Also need driveway paved.

Intending to buy a second house when the time comes but waiting on that one. Goal is to bail out of NY. I Have been sitting on cash for a while now but I always do that anyway to some degree.

Otherwise I’m actually selling almost all my nonessential tools and toys. Trying to be lean and able to pivot.

Obligatory precious metals (all Four). And yes, like a "fool"..

Not personal stuff, but years end is fast approaching and have to spend a certain amount of business funds. I don't know what I should get. Truck, forklift or another press brake. I really don't want or have use for a pickup so probably a brake and forklift.

Been sitting on cash inflating away trying to find a piece of dirt to retire on. That keeps moving further out of reach.

I am cheap so I don’t spend money any more than I have to. But we did buy my wife a new SUV a year ago and will spend about $45k redoing our bathrooms in a couple months. So while I don’t like spending money I am not tooooo worried about the future. My job is recession proof. My wife’s job is more at risk but her income is “extra” anyways so it it goes away we will just have to make due with less fun money.

I am far away enough from retirement that if the markets tank they will have plenty of time to recover before I need that money.

I stopped a couple months back because I’m saving for house payments when I move and have to sell my old house

Bought a 3500$ dump trailer
Looking at a 900$ ac wc that needs bottom end bearings. Comes with a parts tractor and a sickle bar.
Flying to go see my son Friday.

Since I almost died and I know my time is more limited then others. I am living today.
Plus all I have is low mortgage, taxes,
And utilities.

Not really. The biggest purchase recently was running but in need of work ATV for a decent price. I dread having to replace a vehicle in the near future. I have spent some money on personal projects and a couple of tools, but nothing major. Does buying feeler gauges count? :D

I'll go with the not blowing through it like no tomorrow but trying to contract a bit before the new year. I've got some deferred maint on the daily that I'm working toward finishing... maybe under $1k in parts. Some work into car projects ($1k or so) Too many of those sitting in my yard. Might end up adding a 'project' car(TDI beetle) to turn into a donor for a different project car(77 civic):homer:

I'm eyeballing a different DD before end of year that will be more appropriate for my needs... may end up being combo DD and tow rig(7-8k lbs rating)

I'm getting rid of other cars/items to condense stuff... with luck, all said and done, I'll end up with minimal monthly bills/yearly bills.

Waiting for the Black Friday sales to remodel some of mi casa.

Kinda. I have been buying tools for wood working the last few months in preparation. Planning to go into debt for a house in a few months. And I'm saving cash to replace my truck at some point in the nearish future as well.

But not spending any on hobby stuff like my jeep, video games, or doing stuff around town. Last significant money I spent on pure hobby stuff was two kayaks late last fall.

Nothing out of the ordinary

Have had a series of big purchases this year though. Waiting for.....I dunno, I guess me to take the time and I'm going to drop some cash back into the stock market slot machine.

Never a good time to jump in, might as well be now I guess

succeeded in blowing through most of my savings last year-ish
still got a year's earnings sitting in the stock market slowly losing value (but ticking up in dollars (just slower than actual inflation)) and a few thousand kicking around in various places

I guess I have been buying old rusty trucks. Just this summer I got a 7.3 idi 90 F350 4x4 crewcab, a 50 Ford F6 winch truck with a smallblock chevy, a 66 c20, an 84 Izuzu Pup Diesel, a 52 Ford F6 wheat truck with a Flathead V8 and a 55 Ford F600 wheat truck with a 292 Y block. I still need to go get both F6s and the c20.

Pretty sure I could easily make some money on them. Currently slowly fixing up and driving the F350 my neighbor wants to buy it so I might sell it.

A buddy is ordering a new smoker trailer...

Still waiting for SS disability to be approved, then I plan to pull some of the 100K I have hiding and fixing some things around the farm that are bothering me. It's coming down to me spending it or the grandkids inheriting it...told the kids we are going to sell the house they are renting from us, so they better get their credit fixed amd debt paid off or they won't be able to afford it, then the new owners will charge normal rent rather than less than half for what it is.
I told the wife I don't want to leave the kids anything buy a few grand each.
Grandkids will get a little more and one will get the farm...gonna be some pissed people when I die and they see my will.

Yea, just bought a fairly high-end rangetop and warming drawer to go in a new island, new countertops and new floor in our kitchen. I'm freaking out because im a cheap ass, but my slightly less cheap ass wife is saying it's fine:laughing:

I keep telling myself in an inflationary environment, convert cash into stuff you need, and I need to prepare food....
