Project - No Ducks Givin' - A done right (for me) CJ Buggy

Getting ready to pull the trigger on coilovers. Thinking 12" in the rear and 14s in the front. Biggest question is 2.0 vs 2.5. I not going to say budget isn't a consideration but if the extra grand is really worth it I'm fine with spending the money.

This will be street driven and wheeled hard. Think ultimate adventure style.
The 2.0s will get really hot, fast with the kind of weight you're bringing to the table. I would go 2.5s. I almost went 3.0.

I mean I'm thinking 5000 lbs tops? While I'll do street driving there is zero go fast (over 15mph) trails here. And even those are access roads. Kinda hoping Beat95yj Has Some wisdom

I went 2s on the front of my old buggy because I was broke. New buggy will have 2.5s because they are just better all around

My six is currently at 4400lbs unfinished, looking at 4800 lbs loaded without driver and you're starting a very similar build mobil1syn schooled me on shocks and setup (BTW, when my fronts went back to Carbon, they're being cut to 14's. Thanks for the advice, and the push). I ran several scenarios and all input said 2.5s minimum, maybe 3.0s. More oil and bigger shafts never hurt.

Thanks, you build is definitely one I've been following close on here and the book of faces. Hoo I can be half as clean as yours

Defiantly going to need to shorten the front links. Sitting at about 120"

With the motion ratio of the shocks in the rear with the trailing arms you’re going to want a bigger shock than you otherwise could get away with.

Wish I had a lift.
My build is sitting at 113 3/4 with 36” front and 37” rear lowers at full stuff.

You don't even wanna know the deal with that shop lol

Getting my butt kicked by the 3 link. I was trying to use my yota box as it's fresh and works great but I think I'll need an inside the frame box to get the drag link and panhard bar closer to the same length.

Sitting right at 114" wheel base and 21" belly height at "ride height" I'll have 7" of up travel in the front with 14" shocks and 5.5-6" in the rear with 12" shocks on the trailing arms,

have you cycled the trailing arms yet? maybe i missed it.

Kinda-ish

Don't have shocks yet but the old tape gives me that travel number for the trailing arm. I need to cut the floor up some and can probably gain another inch.

So I;m really struggling to get the pan hard and draglink the same lentght. I'd have to move the steering box inside the frame for starters.

I busted out the old compass on a picture an the bump steer doesn't look horrible. The bars are both the exact same angle. How much will I hate life like this?

Can you push your frame side track bar mount out more?

It won't be terrible as is

get that panhard floating out in the air. pink would be the rear plate, make it large with lots of weld.

make the pink the front plate to double sheer it allowing for the panhard to drop in between the two.

Yeah I'm gonna redo it. Right now I'm just trying to figure out where it's gonna live...

It's honestly been one of the most frustrating things I've had to figure out on a wheeler

Daughter was sick today so installed home with her. Figured I'd strip my factory harness for the 5.3 down.... she just wanted to lay on the couch and have me close so i figured id justbdo it innthe living room.... man what a bad idea that was. :lmao:
