A buddy of mine back in RI runs a pulling truck in the local club and is looking for a new transfer case. He just sent me these pictures that Pro Fab sent him in an email......

If those quick change gears are as strong as the stockers this could open up a whole new world of options for us rock crawlers/racers.:smokin:

He said they quoted him $2800. I'm not sure if that's for the whole case or just the conversion parts but either way it is still a good deal in my opinion.

Who's going to be the guinea pig for this new case?

Here's the link: http://www.profabmachineinc.com/transfer-cases.html

Looks like the lowest gear set is 2.500:1, wonder if they'll have lower options?

Also, does it have to run in vertical orientation like they do for mud trucks(referring to the 12" drop between input/output)?

The transfer case I posted isn't on their web page yet. The info you posted is for a drop box not the transfer case I posted above. You have to call or email Pro Fab for details on the QC 205 as it's a brand new product.

If that 205 case accepts normal quick change rear end gears like I think it does, the gear ratio selection is endless.

Thanks for clearing that up, hope renewed!

So I'm guessing that the quick change ratio is full time, then you still get the shift able 1.96 ratio? Otherwise I can't see the benefits over their drop box.

Pulling trucks and mud racers (not the big tall gay kind) don't need drop boxes but do need quick change gears for varying track conditions and most use a 205. This new case fills that void in the market.

I assume you are correct on how it works. Other than those two pictures I have no info on it. I doubt the QC portion is low only though.

Niether do rock bouncers or u4 guys, but they still use them, they just run them flat.

I guess this is just for the small gap of guys that are serious enough to need more than regular 205, but not quite at the point of a full on drop box type case.

More options are always good.

Im not an expert on pulling trucks, but I believe the way the classes work they limit you on transfer case setups. Maybe this still counts as a OEM transfer case with in the rules, that a drop box style doesnt.

With the gears shown in the case above it has a 1.4 to 1 ratio. If you flip those same gears from top to bottom on the shafts it becomes a .714 to 1 ratio.

Almost any pulling truck is going to have a long enough wheelbase for it to not be an issue. U joints don't know if the 8* is only down or partially to the side.

Combined with the stock low range the ratios could be anywhere from 3.68-1 to 1-1.

look at the pic of it open Those are not standard 10spline qc gears, look to be 40+. 10 splines would not hold up in a pulling truck or even an a heavy crawler. And you want this in your dailey and drive with strait cut gears? you like ear plugs in while you drive?

Straight cut gears are not for the man bun crowd..... But then again neither are rock buggies. Who wants to go rock crawling in something with no windshield or A/C, **** that.

:shaking:

I had straight cut gear drive on my old motor and people said those and bypass shocks make a lot of noise. Never heard the noisy motor. and Even my tacoma fully cages with 3.0 bypasses all around I never heard them making noise either.
