Hawk pride in Alabama, pinion started puking at first gas stop. Filled it up with lube once. Drove it up on a trailer and got to wrenching after setting up my tent. Pulled all the shims out of the rear third, so it was tight, and tossed it in the front and tossed the front in the rear. mustard makes decent gear marking compound

Yea, that's most of the reason why I went with the fj60 front, diff swap ability with my rear. Also at the time they somehow missed the cruiser tax, I got this one for like $150, while and fj80 was like $1k

When building my old first gen I snagged a bare housing and diff for 150 shipped from the bay area. Threw my outers on it and and slapped it in. Felt very comfortable with that axle... I foolishly parted that truck out for bigger and better that never came to. Lost out on a good 10 years of wheeling and the closure of a very local spot. Its since opened but its all green trails and shit, still hard sections but man made.
