What's new

On tonights episode of: WTF Kind Of Bug is This.......

Pretty sure, would be more confident if I could see the other side of it.

This is why I just said orb weaver. :flipoff2:

You’re most likely correct that it’s a yellow garden spider. We have a ton of these around my parents place growing up. I swear some were the size of small birds. I also spent a lot of time throwing large grasshoppers into their webs.

We had a walkout basement when I was a kid and the yellow garden spiders loved to congregate at the entrance. I would harvest all the grasshoppers I could find and bring them in and watch them go to work. Hours of entertainment.

We always called em cat face spiders when I was a kid. Leave em in our garden to take care of business.

We let the wolf spiders run free here to combat the black widows. I have rescued some large ones from the sink this year and put them outside. My rescues are a bit screamy and I put them in a big pot or bowl and run outside with it. Marti the male JRT kills them when he can. Now with the kittens I doubt we will many.

That OP bug is creepy!!

Saturday night edition.......

Thing looks like it wants to fight.

We had Motorolas in the service trucks, office and shop on our own channel until nextel got push to talk.
Yeah PTT is still the way to go. Bummer so few people use it these days. Still superior solution for work stuff.

Zello was the app I used on my Sonim brick phone most recently and it will also go to a regular smart phone, those just aren't as convenient

I hadn't realized that it was still a thing, when sprint took over nextel we had to drop them.
Yup, for something company provided, heck yeah. Bulk charging station just like a radio, but with easy text and voice call if needed in addition to PTT.

I recently found out the newest Sonim xp5 can do hot spot stuff as well, that's about enough to have me buy another used one and go back to it.

We also called them banana spiders. When i was surveying, we'd find big ones in the woods. Throw a lot of grasshoppers in there
neighbors had a turkey pen
you would think we had a cock fighting ring back there, we would catch grass hoppers and let them loose to see if they could make it out of the pen

in case you are wondering, the odds are not good for the grasshopper

One of our dark fishers in our basement. She killed a mouse :smokin:

I always heard them called water spiders cause the eye are always hanging around something wet

My vacation shack is full of them

And those fuckers will bite you .
I don’t think they harm you but it fucking hurts when they bite .

At my job sites I see black widows every day
So when my kid was little I’d always get the largest one I saw all week and suffocate it and let him take it to school to add to his bug collection

I saw this guy on the dock when I was in Canada when we went in for a beer run. Looks close.

These big fuckers have moved in to my covered walkway over the past couple weeks. They actually set off my security cams when they go to work weaving at night.

Found this on a towel while working in Florida. Its body is about an inch long.

There were also a bunch of gnats and the dragonflies would swarm them in the middle of the day

That thing is cool looking.

Praying Mantis I actively try to help if they're in a bad spot. I saw one scurrying when I was mowing the yard so I scooped them up and put them down the other side of the yard where I'd already mowed.

This giant ass fucking spiders? Screw that shit. Can of brake clean.

Most spiders, hell, most anything, as long as it stays outside it lives. I tell them all every spring, stay outside and you're cool. If you come in the house I have to kill you.

Tarantula Hawk here... apparently a nasty excruciatingly painful if stung by.. they apparently sing a tarantula then lay eggs in living spaider.. and babays eat spider from inside out ... omy...this one is a small one only about 2" long...
