I was asked by a member to start a build thread of my 1936 Chevy buggy build. I’m new to writing threads and this is my first full build. I’m a AC painter by trade and before that I was a maintenance tech for 8 years. I attended Wyotech back in the day and that’s where I learned most of my welding/automotive as well as custom paint.

I had a somewhat built 87 Toyota pickup back in high school that I would thrash on in Moab but after that I was away from the off-road world. I got into motorcycles, then after a not so serious crash and my wife getting ready to have our second kid I started to get back into rock crawling. My sister sold me her old RzR…then realizing it wasn’t the same as my Toyota I made a deal with my wife to sell the rzr and build my dream rock crawler. Sorry for the long intro but just wanted to give some background info.

During my time away I bought a 1936 Chevy I planned on rat rodding out as well as a 79.blazer to build my crawler. Decided to sell the blazer and make the 36 my buggy.

This is when I decided to make it a crawler!

I have lots more let me know if you are interested in the history of the build.

This was in Jan 2024… let me know if you want to see more!

Good to see you here! We need to see progress pics, from begining to now.

Okay, cool of people are interested I will share some more.

So my starting budget was around 10k, so I got the idea from a YouTube channel to buy a donor crawler. I also had some cash from the 79 blazer I sold.

Meet the green…. Thing

at the time this had a lot of things I was like “ya I can use that” while I’m not into crapping on other people’s work… the build was ROUGH like my buddy’s is a welder rough. But to his credit he wheeled the thing! And it had some nice trials under is arc welded poop pipe.

I also a year before bought this for $1200

I drove this for a year and parted it out getting around $1800 for all of the random parts.

So now it was time to tear down the ugly green thing…

So two quick things… my kids love to work in the shop with me and you may notice some different tires… I will address that in the next one
