What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

You work cat right?

Why not just skip all the girly trucks and just go peterbuilt or kenworth? All the cat trucks in nor Cal were, but maybe since that cats birth place, the funding is better? :flipoff2:

If I'm still at my current company when my truck is done (although I can't see it lasting that long working so hard every day) I'll definitely be pushing for a real truck.
That's what we run for the bigger (CDL) trucks.
I don't CDL... :flipoff::grinpimp:

There is still much incest between CAT and I/N collabs on trucks, engines and fuel systems that go back decades.

My son has a TRX ordered which is built in Sterling Heights. I don't know how the mix works with Mexico on the 1500s.
probably like most corporate bullshit, the horn button is put on in Sterling Heights while the rest of the truck is made in Mexico :lmao:

You should be able to get a truck just under cdl territory. As long as it's 26k gross or less.

Does tx require a CDL for air brakes?

They actually built it

Congrats and kudos on the patience...

Since screen shot doesn't state, curious if it is arriving with the recall notices or if those are "in the mail" post delivery... :flipoff2:

I have nothing to loose so it's worth the adventure, still have 36,180 miles on my current truck. :dustin:

The recalls for this truck haven't even been created yet:stirthepot:, it gives you something to look forward too. :lmao:

Yeah we used to have de-rated 750's, IH DuraStars and some peterbilts in that sub 26k class but the bean counters deemed those trucks where excessive and not needed. They also have this theory that those big trucks scare our BCP (Building Construction Products/ smaller machines) customers, I made my thoughts clear on that but I don't matter obviously.

No CDL needed for air brakes under 26k, this truck was a de-rated F-750 that way.
A excellent truck in all counts but not really more capable than my current truck, that is how the lords see it.

I'd think the longevity and ease of service on a truck like that would be where it shines?

Also the frame not breaking in half?

Mine was also bought thru X plan (former Deere service tech) but I think the dealer wanted to order more sold trucks so they could get a larger allotment of new trucks to keep on their lot. Same dealer offered a local fence installer $20k difference to trade her 2020 F350 STX in on a 2022 F350 STX so that they A: had used inventory and B: got another allotment.

I'm really considering seeing what my local dealer will offer me for my 22 Lariat FX4 6.7
From what I am seeing them listed for on the used lot, I could potentially pocket $8-10k on a truck with 26k miles.
Obviously then it's the whole "what do I get now" aspect.

That's how you end up here :emb:

I should have sold the truck last year and ran off with the cash because its possible I will lose $10k + on this trade but I still have options and hold most the cards on this deal.
Everyone says trucks are plentiful but my research of the local market says that isn't true in regards to DRW trucks.

I just realized the truck will be delivered by rail in perfect timing for the strike
I am going to be taking delivery of a '22 IN '23 :lmao:

For y'all playing the home game, Granger Ford in Iowa will order you a Ford SD for 2% below invoice. You have to go there to pick it up or have it shipped.

I ran across the thread when I was researching X Plan purchasing (.04% below invoice).

Hi, everyone My name is Zach and I'm the dealer principal at a Ford dealership in Granger, Iowa. Many of you are familiar with Ford's COVP program, and I view it as a huge opportunity for our store and anyone interested in purchasing a Super Duty truck. We are offering 2% under invoice on any Super Duty truck that is a retail order. There's no catch or gimmick. We view it as a huge opportunity to increase our market share locally and gain business we woldn't have had otherwise. To get a quote started just email a Build & Price from Ford's website to [email protected]
Just a few quick notes (because I know I'll get asked!)

1 - Our documentation fee is $180.
2 - There are NO mandatory add ons.
3 - There is a Non-Refundable $1000 deposit due at order.
4 - We will get you an electronic signature document with options, pricing, and details for your signature before placing the order.
5 - We do not participate in courtesy deliveries to other dealerships.
6 - We do not collect sales tax for out of state purchase (you don't have to pay Iowa tax, but will owe tax upon the return to your home state).

That was for '22 model year Fords. I took advantage of that deal for my '22 and got it for 9k under sticker. For the new '23 orders they are doing it a little differently, I think it's $1500 over invoice now. I'll go to FTE and check on it...

Edit, Yup it's now $1500 over invoice, still a lot better than most dealers are doing since most are adding a market adjustment to the sticker price.

I read a post about the '22 orders rolling over to '23's. They are still honoring the 2% below invoice. I thought that was for all '23's. I thought wrong.

X Plan is .04% below invoice plus $275 though.

From another post it appears the order banks closed on 16 November. Looks like I won't be buying a new Ford.
This 3rd world shithole lifestyle is beginning to suck.

Yeah I was going to say it doesn't likely matter if they honor it or not because you can't get a '23 ordered anyway.

This is just plain gambling at this point.
Just place your bets. I feel good about this deal if it works and I'll regret it for sure if it doesn't or the new truck is a piece of shit. Either way I'll likely order a '24 450.

And I forgot again but I think x plan pricing has been discontinued until further notice. I used the stock plan to get this x pin and that was stopped too. I'm not even sure they will honor the pricing on my order.

I wonder what they are going to do with the lots full of SD trucks waiting on chips?

They are fixing to be a model year old and the 2023 is supposed to be "all new".
After hearing about the rear axle debacle it really makes me wonder why those trucks are there.

And it's really not just Ford, there are lots like that everywhere for GM in North Texas.
I saw one in Midlothian last week that even has bays and workers doing something to the vehicles, hoods up etc.
No idea what they were doing?

My buddy just told me his 22 duramax is throwing a code for break in communication to the ecu or something. The dealer told him it is probably a bad ecu that was made during the "shortage"

Probably got some chips out of old Saturn ecms LoL

I drove by that a few weeks ago and was amazed by how much bigger that whole thing has gotten since I stopped racing over there a year ago. I thought the amount of vehicles sitting over there was ridiculous back then, its soooo much more now. Fuckin crazy! Best I can figure on the workers is that they are either installing chips on vehicles that need to be shipped out ore they are performing some kind of rodent protection. Either way, this whole deal is fucktarded. 50yrs ago there wasn't a single chip or computer in any car or truck on the road and here we are today being "technologically advanced" and we can't even roll a fucking window down without a fucking computer controlling it. :shaking:

Off topic: Where you working on a loader for Webber in San Marcos on 35 last week? I saw a new Kodiak on the side of the highway with your company's logo on it right around the corner from where I was working as i was leaving to go to my next job. I almost turned around to see if it was you.

Make sure to throw a :flipoff2: just in case next time

Nope not me, I don't have to venture out town much anymore 🤞

I looked on Google maps and it was impressive when ever that pic was taken, but the "shop" looks new to me, I'd love to know what they are doing.

The thing about chips that is weird is there is no shortage of phones, laptops miscellaneous bullshit for sale.
Our machines have not seem to have a straight chip shortage, just more demand of faulty shit shortage, AKA DEF quality sensors etc.

BIL works for CN and said Dec 9 is Strike date , why Friday ?
So that the union shitbirds can go "on strike" after their shift on Friday and post on social media all weekend about their suffrage and how the man is trying to keep them down all weekend, and magically come to terms Sunday night so they can be back at work Monday morning talking about how they united against corporatism and defeated fascism without ever missing a shift.

IIRC its because the auto manufacturers want older chips that not many people make any more (so they have the same model for 5-10 years, also theoretically a little more robust) and they canceled a bunch of orders in 2020 when they thought car sales were going to tank, the chip manufacturers switched to higher profit margin chips when those orders were canceled and between supply chain issues, purchasing surges, etc, they haven't caught back up.

Any vehicle built since Covid started is junk.

Change my mind.

(Yes… I own one)

I'm with you. We have 6 F550/600s at work. 2 19s, and the rest are 20s or 21s. Seems like the 21s have been the most problematic so far. Then trying to get a time slot at the dealer is ridiculous. We also now have 4 duramax pickups, 15, 18, 22 and 23. I guess time will tell how those work.

Side note. How gay is gm to put an electronic push button tail gate on a stripped model truck? :homer: no way that will ever have issues in a work environment.

New Ram trucks are made in Sterling Heights, MI Warren Mi or Saltillo Mexico. New DT 1500s are made in Sterling Heights. The DS 1500 Classic is made in Warren and the 2500 and 3500 models are made in Mexico.
