New Bronco reports

$40k over MSRP?

They start at 78,500.
Looks like I rounded up $5K (my bad don’t hang me). Go to 3:55 and he says they paid $115K for it.

Day one reservation holder, took delivery this past June. So far we love it. I'm 6'6" and am plenty comfortable in it. Wife learned how to drive stick in it, and it's her DD. Have wheeled it a couple times, can't wait to get it out to Moab this spring. Locker engagement is instantaneous, swaybar disconnect is pretty sweet, and it crawls shockingly well with the 7 speed manual, 3.1:1 low range, abd 4.7 gears in the diffs. It's more capable than the sheetmetal should allow no doubt, and as soon as I upgrade tires I'll change the rings out on the factory beadlock wheels. Visibility is great, and the big screen and camera package is amazing. Used it far more than I thought I would.

Is the build quality as good as any of our Toyotas? No, but anyone who expects that is a fool. I do have to take ours in to get a couple things addressed that have TSB's, but I'll be honest I expected to have more issues than we have had with an early production vehicle built during covid.

I see em all over, but I think that's the first one I've seen with the top off.

The hard top is about to come off tonight for the summer, I just grabbed a soft top for it that will likely stay on until Thanksgiving.

There are several things I have to give ford a lot of credit for with this thing. One being how well it was designed to run with the top off, or just windows down. There's no buffering, no reverb (top on or off with windows down), and both the front panels and whole top come off very easily. If you are familiar with a FJ Cruiser you know how bad those are windows down on the highway, and this has none of those issues.

Better off asking Instagram about them. It’s usually women and guys that sit down to piss driving them.

I snow wheel an Early Bronco as well. Honestly how does this one compare to an EB with aired out 36's?
My Early Bronco is definitely better. These new Broncos are fat pigs compared to my EB with a V8, NP435, D20, 44, 60 etc... Belly clearance is an issue, and means a lot more digging, you'd have to lift it a lot (hello portals). My EB is mostly just point and go, in and out of ditches or whatever. If I do get stuck it's usually no more than a couple minutes to clear some snow from the axles. If I can get a couple of inches movement, I'm home free. I've only had to dig out the 6G once, and had to clear the entire belly. Another issue is snow covering the intercooler and grill. Have to clear it frequently when getting after it. Didn't like the tranny temps climbing. And I can finally definitively say manual is way better for snow wheeling.

All that to say, the new Bronco does way better than I expected and hoped for. Very impressive for a bone stock factory vehicle with a warranty. Can't beat the creature comforts to/from the trail. And the traction control is truly impressive. I consider myself a decent driver and I can't touch the performance the traction control gives.

I’d argue it’s a 4th gen bronco

gen 1 66-77
gen 2 78-79
gen 3 80-96
gen 4 21-present

what are the missing generations?
It's stupid they are calling it a 6G, but there's no fighting it at this point. There were some body changes in 80-96 they are breaking into generations. Personally I believe it's really a 3G. EB > Bronco II > 2021+ There's nothing full size about it. Having own them all, I can say the new Bronco is more Bronco II than EB.

Id say its much closer to full size. It is only 3" narrower at the doors then a 95 while its 8" wider then a bronco 2. It also has more hp and tq then any previous full size.

The track width is wide, but body/interior dimensions and overall feel is all Bronco II DNA. Fair HP/torque comparisons cant even be made with a stock EB.

The widths listed were body at doors not track width. Again, 8" wider then broncoII and only 3" narrower then 90s.

Yeah fuck those 6g people for making a wrong ass chart.

66-77
78-79
80-96

Then this thing

Bronco 2 is sideways to the rest because it was made at the same time.

Also I'm not sure about some of those 0-60 times. My 67 with a 289 3 speed and 3.50 gears was wicked fast in 2nd gear

That doesn't sound right at all. My EB body is wider than my '21, and fullsize is wider yet.
Off the top of my head... and I may be wrong... bronco2 is 68ish, 6th gen is 75ish and 95 is 78ish... dont recal eb but ill brb after googling

69ish eb

I just ran out and checked. EB and 21+ are both 57" interior door to door. Outside of fender to fender also roughly the same ~66"

The Bronco II was a few inches narrower. This is my Bronco II from back in the day. EB axles and V8 were damn near plug and play.

And just because I'm a Bronco II fan. Old magazine article I saved.

Still like mine after 5000 miles (most of wich are going to / from wheeling) its amazing to me how well they can both wheel and drive on the highway. The 2.3 7spd is also impressive and glad I went that route

I know they have some good improvements but I think some people forgot how much wheeling you used to do in "stock factory ish rigs". Quite afew in our club but I haven't wheeled with any yet other then a couple snow runs.

I dont think the bronco really has anything special going on except the fact that its a modern vehicle with lockers, sway bar disconnect, lowish gears, and the possibility to fit 37s very easily. Even something with 0 wheel travel would do ok with that combo.
Now your average Rubicon has all of that also, just not in what I would consider a "modern Vehicle". At least from driving characteristics, i would lump them in with 20ish year old vehicles.
Now both jeeps and broncos work fine... and the jeep may work fine for longer due to its simplicity over the bronco, but in the short term the bronco definitely wins on the street.

Cool thank you. Sounds like my EB. I may buy a newer Bronco later on. No hurry. Been daily driving my EB now for awhile and enjoying it. Nice to talk to someone who knows snow.

I know the guy who is the lead service tech for one of the largest Ford dealers in the region. From what he tells me, expect significant electrical gremlins.
So like any normal new vehicle? For me to purchase one of today's vehicles it would have to be with fuck you money and I'd completely gut the electronics and any part component dependant on it. So yeah. Not going to happen.

Summer mode engaged, and rolled 9k driving it around the block to put it back in the garage. First time install of the windows was an absolute bear, had to put it in direct sunlight for an hour to get the rear window to pull into the tracks.
