What's new

My visit to the E.R....

Xanax and benzos in general freak me out. I've heard enough horror stories about DT off that shit that are scary!

My wife went on some type of anxiety meds because she's lazy and just wants an easy fix. When she came off of them she was a wreck. She had the shakes for about a month. Fuck those things. I'd try a LOT before I went that route.

Diet and exercise are the best fixes. Cardio keeps my aniexty under control. When I cannot exercise is when I need the THC.

Vitamins too. Get your Dr to do a blood panel for deficiencies. Mine did in 2018. For the first time in my life, at 50yrs old I got healthy and had much less anxiety.

That's "just" work bullshit - get back to it when it's time to work.

At the end of the work day, you have to leave work at the door.

All that bullshit will still need your attention tomorrow morning.

But you're off the clock and "real life" deserves your attention, too.

More importantly, you deserve to enjoy "real life" when not at work.

Pretend you popped this placebo pill when you hang up your hard hat:

That's what he said.

But secondly, I haven't been working since I was in kindergarten.
Idk.
Hopefully I can get to a normal doctor.

That's where my wife really struggles. She can't allow for work/life balance. She can't turn it off. You gotta be able to turn it off. I've always been able to. I don't know how to tell people to be able to. If something pops into my head I'll make a note to get to it later or I'll just bang it out and then turn it back off. My wife can't do that. She doesn't have an off switch.

When the migraines originally started. I didn't start working in kindergarten.
Ahh, I couldn't finger out what you was say'n :homer: - gotcha

Hope the docs find a root cause & get you some relief.

Maybe I've just been worrying since then?
Maybe. It's easy to ignore stress when you get used to carrying it.

Even if it doesn't have shit to do with your migraines, I hope you find a way to leave work stress at the time clock - stress fucks with your body 100 different ways, and none of 'em are good.

Question: do you have the migraines while you're working or only in your down time?

I don't like fucking up, I don't like everything around me all fucked up. I try really hard to keep everything perfect or up to my standards.
I spent about 10 years from 13-23YO learning to forgive myself for not being perfect.

Though I'm far from someone to use the Bible as reference material, a nice old guy once told me about a lesson I'd never heard pulled from all those stories:

"There was only 1 perfect man to ever walk the face of this earth . . ."

<yeah, OK, whatever pops :shaking:>

" . . . and we nailed his ass to a fucking cross!"

<OK, that's pretty good :laughing:>

If you know you've made a solid effort for the day, let it go & go enjoy your downtime. If you  think of something to make work better, write a quick note or shoot yourself a reminder email, then drop it like a bag of hammers.

Done - off the clock - "fuck work, I'll pick it up at 5AM" - "this wookie's gonna' float the river without a care in the world :grinpimp:"

(assuming you can swim, otherwise maybe worry about drowning :flipoff2:)

My dad says that I worry too much about everything and hold other people and work at too high of importance in my life, and don't sleep well enough.

Besides immediate family what people think of you isn’t really important, you’re a hard worker and intelligent, people will always come to you with questions and you provide answers, even if you look like Bigfoot.

Work will always be there, when I’m worrying about stuff and can’t sleep working a long day helps me out mentally and physically. As a plus things generally get done, now when you do a 12 hour day and it feels like nothing happened then you can get into a bit of a downward spiral.

sign up for online counseling. work on your diet and exercise. If you aren't having sex a couple of times a week (and you are a grown up) you need it. whatever exercise you are currently getting it isn't enough. You need to be on a regular schedule (like a farm animal) up early and to bed early.

turn off the news.
probably quit social media or limit your time to an hour a day.

the online counseling thing is 285 a month. I have not used it but am paying for a variety of extended family members who I offered it to and who have been using it for almost a year (I offered 2 years at my cost if they would try it.) In all cases (6) each person tells me it has been a HUGE help.

I have no affiliation whatsoever, but am glad that they are helping people.

I tell people, including my employees, “You’re not fucking getting paid after work, so why think about it for free?”

Do something that keeps you from thinking of those things.
This is why I go boxing 3 days a week. It forces me to not think about work for a few hours a week.

Punching other people in the head and trying not to get go back has done wonders for my psyche. Violence in a controlled atmosphere is something that I need.

Easier said than done when self employed/ work for the family business. The amount of shit that gets piled on you is huge. It’s extremely hard to shut it off.

I get that; that's why he needs to prioritize letting it go.
It's all too easy to take care of everyone but yourself.
Also a great way to vapor lock the day after you retire.

Work to live, don't live for work, or work is your life.

Doesn’t work that way with a small business, as soon as you turn down work or can’t get it done it’s on to the next company and you will never get that business back from that person.
