What's new

My turn, washer wont power on

He bought the worst of the best :lmao:

Basically this. I got happy and bought it, but apparently these arent the good ones

Waiting for someone to come help me get the dryer off. The main washer inverter is $$$

Going to see if I can remove it and have someone fix it?

Voltage going to the panel is .70, the other connector is 12.5

so 650 for a new one, ugh
I got a guy at work, used to work with his father repairing tvs.

I could hand him that thing when he walks in at 6:00 in the morning, and he'd have it back in my hands within the hour. Sometimes longer if he had to go back home to get a capacitor or something.

He'll look at that board visually and point to the capacitor that's blown (even though they all look good to me).

He's worth far, far more than we're paying him unfortunately.

Edit: Also, you live in the fuckin' bush don't you? Get yourself a surge suppressor. Buy the Eaton/Cutler Hammer one with "ultimate" in the part number, don't cheap out and buy the smaller ones. Install in your first electrical panel, on a 2 pole 60 amp breaker. Twist the conductors and cut them as short as possible.

You're welcome.

Surge suppressor went into the new main panel (replaced 2 weeks ago)

The service in my link repairs it for $100, may do this first. My relative repaired TVs and all that, but he is older and busy now. Ill look for someone else locally first, but I think this is a lost skill to find these days

Your guy sounds cool

edit. found someone, will call him tomorrow when they open.

Lot of comments about the board issues online with the inverter boards, seems like a bad batch and lot failed just out of warranty. However people still say inverter based is good because allows smooth starts, variable RPM, less out of balance, etc. but 1000msrp price on the board is highway robbery and SQ be fucked.

If 100 fixes it cool, otherwise a nice new washer can be had for 700.

It's all in the name of saving snake oil... er, I mean energy.

Id love to fix and keep going, but the nest price on a new module is gon abe 700+ with tax and all, thats how much a brand new nice one costs with 4 year warranty from costco. Fuck speed queen and their overpriced shit. They taunt the 5 year warranty but are priced 2-3x another nice unit and obviously fail way before their "25 year residential lifespan"

:mad3:

I paid $75 for a used set of Whirlpool washer/dryer 10 years ago. Have put $5 in parts in over that time.

when moving into the house, there was a set of old kenmores. Nobody wanted to buy them even for 100, so I gave them away. Ibb told me not to.

I understand what they meant, but still, 40 year old loud clunky is not the way to live

I'm pretty sure that I asked your location...

I am in mine a clutch and a heating element for 25 years of use for about 45.00 total
I abuse the shit out of them, you can not beat the old stuff

But how is the washing and drying action? Delicates? Down jackets and stuff? The options you can select are my main reason for going newer. Presoak, soap dispenser, extra rinse etc, lot of nice options

Speed queen

Didn't all the fanboys tell you that if you paid stupid money for a speed queen you'd avoid dumb problems like this? Where are they now?

Isn't Speed Queen supposed to be an old school type unit with clicky-turn knobs and no confusers?
The fanboys don't know their shit? Say it ain't so?

Speed Queen sold out years ago, probably close to a decade on some model lines. Maybe their coin op commercial shit is better but I'd still rather maintain an old one.

Don't forget environmental bullshit that prevents you from washing one particularly dirty item in 30gal of water. :flipoff2:

WTF is that? you :rainbow: or something??:flipoff2:
my machines washes and dries stuff

delicates is nice stuff - dressy clothes, etc.

Nothing but crickets. Want to slap every one of them. Good thing I only paid 550 but for a 2017 machine to need a 1000 dollar part, man fuck this company. Built for 25 years of commercial use my ass.

Let me guess. You got rid of your older bulletproof washer and then suddenly the new one died?
Was it him or someone else who was told to just stick the old one aside for when the new one takes a shit? Someone here was definitely given that advice recently.

Is there anyhting you have ever done that you haven't turned out to be an incredible moron at? Also why does it matter how it sounds? You spend all all your time sitting on top of the washer like a bored housewife or something? I throw laundry in and walk away. Turn tv on. Cant hear mine at all at that point and they are older than i am, literally.
