What's new

My new beat up broke down Ram truck

I use these wheels to clean the deck off then use a steel ruler to check for low spots. good luck.

Ordered.

Cleaned up the intake manifold gasket surfaces with these^. Worked good. Will probably hit the block soon with them. Undercoating and spray gun came in. Need to get that done. Ordered hinge for the back window that was broken and screwed shut.:homer:
Waiting to hear from machine shop about the heads.
Still back and forth about intake plenum replacement plate. Any more input on that?

Heads are back from the machine shop. Pressure test passed. And not warped. Cleaning things while
waiting on gaskets and bolts to show up. Rocker arm end of most of the push rods are pretty scratched up.:emb4:

Where can I get a pair of hood hinges? Mine are wore out.

Got the block cleaned up and threads chased. Threads are good. Deck looks like someone hit it with a grinder. 3 or 4 thou low in a couple spots. :frown:

A little worried about the deck being to fuckered but the plan is to slap her together today. You can't break broke, right?
Got someone coming to look at the bike I have for sale today. That should free up a little money and space.

I'm behind on updating.

Got her back together and fired up Sunday. It smoked for a while and the lifters were a little noisy. But it all cleared up. Test drive was uneventful. Power seems right for what it is.

Seems like it's shifting a little off. But it could be me. Need to drive it more.

I got her all legal beagle today.

What a shitshow at the secretary of state. Make an appointment online. Show up. Wait outside. Check in. Keep waiting outside. Go in and stand on the x and wait. Finally do business. They had the door locked and will not let you in without your face covered.

It was $240 to transfer title, register, buy a plate and get a park pass. For a $1500 truck.

Also got a new coolant reservoir cap and a roll of trim that runs the length of the truck.

Taking it to a guy for a quote for bodywork tomorrow.

That is all for now. Thanks for all the input, fuckers.:flipoff2:

Bailed on the run to the salvage yard. Need to get more miles on the engine to ensure she isn't going to grenade. At about 60 miles now. So far so good on the motor.

Body shop said 4k to bump and paint it sans bed. Bed is too beat. Would be cheaper to find a rust free bed that isn't beat to shit. :bawling:

I need you suspect fellows help.

The trans is problematic.
Fluid is propper level, color and smell.

Visual inspection only reveals a bit of slop in shift linkage at the column and trans.

It hunts for gears at low speed/throttle and medium/high speed/throttle.

Shifts to soon or to late in above scenarios.

Going to eyefuck the book tonight and dig into it tomorrow if I'm not to fuzzy.

You asked for input, so here you go! No way I would pay body man type money for a 23 yr old truck. I would fix the dents myself to my satisfaction(very low expectations, lol) and paint it myself with some paint from Tractor Supply.

Caught a check engine light on the test drive after getting the trans back together. IAT sensor was reading 155f with engine warm. Replaced it Saturday and light is out this morning.

Also ordered new exhaust for it.

Ordered tires yesterday.

Got a spare wheel and hood hinges from the boneyard Monday.

Power washed and undecorated last week.

Started to rattle can some paint on.

changed oil and filter at 150 miles. Cut open filter, no metal or chunks. Oil pressure has held steady.

Replaced dashboard Saturday. That was a fucker.

Changed oil in diffs and t case. All looked good. Posi is tight. 4wd engages properly.

Support bearing for rear driveshaft needs replaced.

Appears to be multiple options for it. Any insight on which one I need? All I know is its the square style.
thanks!

Edit: about 300 miles since the top end rebuild.

It's just a fuckin dodge, manage your expectations

I did my bodywork sitting on a picket line

painted it in a carport with $129 Amazon paint kit and a $40 gun.

I probably probably had 3-400 in altogether

Crispin reminded me to keep my shit updated. So here it is.
@ 3000 miles after rebuild of top end i changed oil and filter again. Cut open filter and screened oil. No trouble found.
@ 5000 miles now and running strong.

Trans is holding up fine since the repairs and service. Will probably do fluid and filter at 1000 miles to see if it's making lots of glitter in the pan. Picked up a weld in bung and drain plug that will go in then.

Folded the front bumper into a pretzel trying to push over a stump.:homer: I have a new one started that will accept a Warren witch.:flipoff2: Stuck on how to build shackle mounts with the steel I have. And finding time to mess with it.

Thats all for now. Hope you fuckers all fuck off for the holidays. :flipoff2:
