Came across this on FB. Under title of "tips for winter". They suggest to put plywood over the unit to protect against icicles and branches, yet don't address the fact that you're choking the fan. To me, it screams stupid. But just in case I'm the dumb one, confirm that this is, in fact, very stupid.

you are the dumb one

but, protip for if you're where cottonwood fuzz exists
wrap your shit in window screen, makes cleaning the fuzz off a lot easier than lifting the fan to be able to blow it out with the hose

We put a cover (like a bbq cover) over ours in the winter to keep blown crap from getting in/around it. yeah, kinda windy here in the winter, whatever. Makes maintenance much easier. Anyway, we dont run the AC in the winter, so .... no issue? Just gotta remember to take it off in teh spring before it warms up. Who runs the AC when it is cold enough for icecicles? Just open teh window for natural and free AC.

Were you thinking it was a heat pump? In that case, you arent wrong.

I don't have icicles

my maintenance was switch the filter out:grinpimp:

If that's AC only, Okay. If that is a heat pump, not Okay at all.
