You can buy the parts for either a mini gun or AR. You just need all the proper taxes and paperwork in order for the people that sell them to talk to you. Mini gun is big bucks. AR is dirt cheap.

I know they are, but I don’t understand why. Is a minigun more complicated that a car? Hardly. Are the materials more expensive? I don’t see how and there’s less of them.

Do you ever design something in your mind when you’re try to go to sleep? Tihis is my minigun design.

I get 8 bolt action rifles. Strip off all the wood and mount them on a couple rotating wheels. All the bolts would face outward. Now you get a oval shape hoop that has a track or slot in it. The bolts ride in the slot. As the barrels turn, the bolts go in at the bottom and out at the top. Your bullets would feed in the top and as it rotated they would be chambered. When it gets to the bottom, it fires. As it rotates to the top, the bolt comes back and ejects the shell right before the next bullet comes down.

So for the price of 8 guns, I would have most of the machine. I suppose if I buy 8 identical rifles, I can meet an ATF agent. Lol.

They sell a Gatling gun kit for 10-22’s
Modify for more rifles

Just replace the crank with a motor

The Gatling gun doesn’t require a stamp.

And keeping your mouth shut about a motor is also free.
 
Miniguns are far more complicated than you are assuming.

You are thinking closer to a generic gatling gun. Those are simpler and legal if hand crank only.

Balance the handle so it can spin high speed without vibrating the shit out of everything. Hold the handle on with a nut. They can’t prove you stuck a drill on that nut and no jury is going to think it’s unreasonable for a guy who builds mini guns to have a drill and sockets.

Maybe if you’re machining all the parts yourself. But the reality is it’s a very small market with very few people producing parts. Aside from all the regulations they pay a staff of attorneys to keep them legal they also probably pay a fuckton of insurance as well to cover their asses. Now factor in that less than 1%, guessing, of all domestic firearms related producers make parts for said mini gun and you’re paying a fucking premium for everything.
 
A real minigun runs at typically around 4000 rounds per minute, up to 6000. At that rate of fire its not just the breech mech that is complicated. The entire feed system needs a ton of work - just pulling from a belt will not work.

If you have ever heard one fire vs a normal machinegun or even gatling gun its a massive difference. Once is a boom-boom-boom, the other is just a buzz.

A belt fed MG can be build for a couple grand. A gatling conversion can be built for about the same. Just the delinker for the minigun goes for north of 5K

Now, since i have an SOT I could buy this tomorrow. If one you yall want to lend me $100k with no interest and an unknown payback schedule. No Law Letter M134 Minigun 7.62x51 - Machine Guns at GunBroker.com : 1012970271

Then feeding it is an issue. At normal rates (3-6k RPM) you are looking somewhere around $2000-3000/minute in ammo

And this is why you can walk into a big box store and buy a small four stroke engine for $100 but not a 100yo handgun clone that has 1/10th the material, 1/20th the number of parts and 1/100th the number of machining operations.

there's an updated base someone made as well that takes a little rambo knife compass so you can easily set it up.
