For those that don't know, the Mandela Effect came about after political leader Nelson Mandela’s death in 2013. Countless people swore he died when he was held prisoner in the 1980s and distinctly remember news coverage of the funeral.

Some say this is due to CERN ****ing the world up and that we're all in an alternate reality. Mulitverse theory and all that.

For fun, watch this movie:
https://www.imdb.com/***le/tt8953768/

What do you remember?

Oscar Mayer or Oscar Meyer
They even had a ****ing song about it where they literally spell it for you.

Sex in the City or Sex and the City

Queen's We Are The Champions

Queen's song We Are The Champions is usually heard at every triumphant sports moment but it ends a lot differently than most people can recall. Some people swore that singer, Freddie Mercury, belts out the lyric “of the world” at the end but, in reality, the original recording simply ends with “No time for losers, ’cause we are the champions.”

The Monopoly Man
How many of you remember the Monopoly man having a monocle?

Where is the Statue of Liberty located? What island?

How many of you remember Jiffy peanut butter?

Darth Vader

“Luke, I am your father” or “No. I am your father.”

C3PO
What color is he? What color are his legs?

How many of you remember a genie movie with Sinbad in it?

Forrest Gump

What did Forrest say his mom said about life?
“Life is like a box of chocolates.” or “Life was like a box of chocolates.”

JFK’s assassination
How many people were in the car?

Double Stuf Oreo or Double Stuff Oreo?

Risky Business

In the famous dance scene in the house...what was Tom Cruise wearing?

Cheez-It or Cheez-Itz?

Froot Loops or Fruit Loops?

Ed McMahon and the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes

Do you have a vivid memory of Ed McMahon appearing on people’s doorsteps to hand them huge checks and balloons after winning the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes? Chances are, you’re not the only one. However, the Tonight Show’s sidekick never made any such house calls. He endorsed the American Family Publishers, which was a rival sweepstake promotion and never once appeared on camera.

Gremlins
The Gremlins movie was released in 1984 and has become a major cult classic. But even some of the most avid fans still swear that the name of the Gremlin was Spike but the actual name of the villainous creature was Stripe.

The location of New Zealand
New Zealand is located right by Australia but on which side? Many people would argue that New Zealand is located Northeast from Australia but in actuality, New Zealand is located Southeastern from Australia.

Looney Tunes or Looney Toons?

Snow White

"Mirror, mirror on the wall" or "Magic mirror on the wall"?

The Tiananmen Square Tank Man
Some folks remember him getting ran over. Others say he was forcibly removed.

Febreeze or Febreze?

Berenstain Bears or Berenstein Bears?

What did Mister Rogers sing?

“It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” or “It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood.”?

Silence of the Lambs
How many of you remember "Hello, Clarice"?

White-out or Wite-Out?

Mickey Mouse

Suspenders or no suspenders?

Field of Dreams
What's the line? If you build it will "he" or "they" come?

Jaws
"We're gonna need a bigger boat" or "You're gonna need a bigger boat"?

Mike ‘n Ike or Mike and Ike

I have no idea what you're talking about.
Jaws
"We're gonna need a bigger boat" or "You're gonna need a bigger boat"?
This actually stemmed from the actual production of the movie. During filming, the boat they were on was very small to maneuver all the gear on. For the entirety of the filming, the actors and crew kept using the punch line we're going to need a bigger boat. The incorporated it into the movie.

And there's something useless you now know. :flipoff2:

Well, that's interesting because...

How'd I do?

That's where it was constructed. Then it was shipped here as a gift, and put in storage. But where did they decide to put it?

Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi's model for the Statue of Liberty was the beautiful Frenchwoman Isabelle Boyer, who was first married to the American industrialist Isaac Merrit Singer-of sewing machine fame- and later to the Duke of Campo Selice of Luxembourg.
In 1878, the 36-year-old Duchess de Campo Selice attracted the attention of the sculptor who forever immortalized her features in the face of Lady Liberty.

They decided to put it in NY but it turned out, after a court case, that it sits in NJ.

What island is it on?

Something like that.

Basically they were too stupid to actually put it where they intended.

Like most things in this thread, you can explain them by simply saying people are stupid.
I mean...you're here...so...:flipoff2:

Some of those examples are pretty stupid really, but some got me for sure. Monopoly man wore a monocle, I thought

What would be more interesting is an explanation of why people remember Nelson Mandela dying in prison. I seem to remember some other political dude dying in the eighties, which could easily cause such a mix up, but I can't remember who, and I can't find anything about it.

OK this is a weird one. That name popped into my head, too, and I know it's wrong. But I could have sworn Ellis Island was a prison.
Ellis Island where was the boats landed bringing in migrants from Europe. It was the largest immigration station.

Nope, that's Attica. Ellis island is where my grandparents legally immigrated into the US. :usa:
No. Attica is just east of Buffalo NY. Youre thinking of Alcatraz in San Francisco or Rikers in NYC.

Besides Obama getting the death-stare from Michelle; this is what I remember most about Mandela's funeral:

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Is that what the was? I forgot about. Dude said he saw angles up on stage and stuff.
