Mandela Effect Thread

the Mandela death thing... you mean you remember him dying in the 80s? im not following
The "Mandela Effect" refers to a phenomenon where a large group of people share a false memory of a specific event or fact, often believing something happened differently than it actually did.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Origin:
The term originated from a widespread, yet incorrect, belief that Nelson Mandela died in prison during the 1980s, a memory shared by many people despite his actual release and continued life.

I'm almost positive I remember hearing on the radio that Nelson Mandela died while in prison while riding home from soccer practice with my mom. I even remember she and I having a talk about who he was and why it was significant that he died in prison. (I was like 7 or so and had immediately assumed that if he was in prison, it was because he was a bad person)

well, your assumption was sorta right, he wasn't a real good person either

That one and probably the actual Nelson Mandela's death thing are the only two that really really bother me because I'm SURE I remember both. The others, not so much.

I'll have to dig it out but I have an old shirt with the cornucopia on the label. The company and a whole bunch of people say it never happened. It's either some kinda psyop or the world really did end in 2012 and we shifted into a parallel universe.

duuuuuude. post a pic. I swear I had it on the tag of every pair of tightly whities when I was a kid.

However, I find it highly unusual that so many people would alter their memories or "fill in the gaps" in effectively the same way. Almost everyone I ask will tell me Queen's We are the Champions ends with "... of the world".
Studio version vs live performance.

Two words, sleepy joe.

Here's one that happened to me on a personal level.

Awhile back there was a thread about member numbers. I looked at mine really quick and could have sworn I saw a high 4 hundred something (like 493). A couple of days later I was going to post about being under 500 and saw 519. I was like "wait a sec" is someone messing with the Db? So, I hit the way-back machine website, found a post of mine, sure enough it's 519.

The thing is, if I had saw 519 the first time, I would have remembered it as that number has personal significance to me in that nearly every workday for 3+ years in the Army I drove across the Bridge of Americas to Ft. Clayton building 519 which was the main admin processing building.

"Global Reach: Broadcast to an estimated 1.9 billion people in 130 countries "
So, everyone remembers the ONE time and not the THOUSANDS of times they heard the song without it?

I never saw the Live Aid video, ever, until this came up and I still remember the song ending "... of the world".

You suck :flipoff2:.
The radio was on a shelf above the work bench and I was like 7, so there was no changing the channel.

I do not suck. :flipoff2:

That flamboyant ***got **********er looked like every other ***got prancing around a gay parade in SF. Disgusting. I was in jr high and high school when they got big. Even back then I thought ***gots were defective.:flipoff2:

Yes, my hate runs deep and is never ending:flipoff2:

I never heard the song until the early 90s and never knew how they dressed until my sister in law was watching the movie :flipoff2:

Champions never ended with "of the world." Live, maybe. Not on the records.

Went to lunch with my friend's kid the other day. He asked if (during the 80's) we knew Mercury was gay. I told him we had a pretty good idea that he was!

Here we go again, what is with your wanting to distort or be prejudiced in your posts..?

Message for you~
If Sandy says something in the woods and no woman hears him, is he still wrong? :flipoff2:
lol, wut? I'm over here cracking bad dad jokes and you're saying I'm prejudiced? I also have no idea what your "Message" means. Please show me some other prejudiced posts that I've made.
