Tyler@TMI Any projected date on your VSS housing being available for the 205?
EDIT....Tyler emailed that there's no ETA at this point, but that they're working on it.
EDIT2: Below is just tech info on rebuild/overhaul kits:
Also, long story, but I finally found a 205 out of a '73 GMC K1500 with what should be the small 80mm bearing and 27 spline input shaft and the small outputs. I bought it as the donor for TMI's case but need to buy an overhaul kit for it, but plan to upgrade both outputs to 32 spline and since I'll be running an ORD Magnum underdrive, it will use a custom input shaft and larger 90mm input bearing.
What don't know is which overhaul kit do I need to work with the Magnitude 90mm case and the 32 spline outputs? USA Standard Gear has 3 direct mount/married kits for different makes from Ford, GM, and Dodge (excluding the 80mm GM one below as well as non-diesel Dodge 23 spline which also uses 80mm) married cases.
I'm guessing the BK205GDM4 that's specifically for a GM and a 90mm input bearing might work, but more likely I need the Ford BK205FDM or Dodge BK205D versions since they both used 32 spline outputs f/r.
When I talked to ORD....they said I just need a large bearing overhaul kit as the outputs all use 80mm bearings regardless of spline count and the Magnum's fat shaft input uses the standard 90mm bearing.
JFYI: I found that Timken has 205 overhaul bearing and seal kits and that the Ford one (TCRK205FA) is significantly less expensive than the Dodge diesel (TCRK205D) but I'm also having a hard time finding just what all is included in the Timken kits vs. SKF and USA Standard Gear...which seem to have everything needed for the rebuild including the rubber star washer seals (Timken appears to just have the bearings and major seals; no specialty washers, snap rings, clips, etc....at least from the photos I've found).
Final EDIT: I ended up buying a USA Standard Gear since it seemed the most complete. I went with the Ford b/c it had the 90mm input as well as 32 spline outputs.
