What's new

Looking for a new trailer. Weights and capacities have me confused.

How would you know what falls into a California non Comercial class a if even the chp and dmv don't?

Even if he takes the test for a cdl class a in that truck and trailer, he'll have a big list of restrictions and would not be able to legally drive a semi.

That's the law, lol. Cali might not have non-commie class A, I have no idea, but the fed law is pretty clear what qualifies for class A and what doesn't. That doesn't change between states as far as I know.

Furthermore, you assume you'll have restrictions, but it's not a given. My non-commie class A license has no restrictions even though I did it in a juice brake f550 with a 12k car hauler trailer. I should have a bunch.

I didn't say gobment employees are competent, just that what people think and what's on the books are often two different things.

In Texas a "commercial" drivers license means you can't differ to judication speeding tickets so that's a no go for me. My professional driving license should not effect my personal insurance rates...

So I will keep a NON commercial license regardless.

Same in NC. CDL equals driver's logs, medical screenings, and a whole lot of other things I don't want or need.

Seems to vary state to state more than you're thinking.

If you have no restrictions, either someone fucked up, or they do it very different in North cakalka.

I CA and ID, you must take the test in a manual, air brake, truck with a 5th wheel trailer to get an unrestricted class a.

Are you positive you don't have restrictions?

Well, we can agree on one thing :flipoff2:

Why are you such an arrogant prick? Don't you have a truck you should be building or something?

Yes I am sure my license has no restrictions. Yes they fucked up when they issued my license, but it is what it is.

Did the way I typed that hurt your feelings?

So they fucked up, but you're arguing that as if that's standard?

It's definitely not standard that I got no restrictions. Government employees are useless, especially at the dmv, so if you get a non-CDL class A, there's a chance you'll get no restrictions. Don't count on it, but I'm not the only one I've read about that has had that experience. Most DMVs don't seem to know about non-CDL A license types, and once mine were informed by me, they fought me on it.

While driving a commercial vehicle.

Disclaimer: for ND and every other state I've actually looked up.

And there wasn't a single reference to log books in any of my license books / tests.

Also have ran ag or short haul exempt, so I have a CDL and have never filled a log book.

We don't do log books at my work either, but it's north Idaho, so who knows if it's legal or just fuck it.

Unless it's changed in the last few years, pretty sure the bac applied regardless of what you're driving in NC.

NC state website:

NC criminal defense attorney:

They did state further up that a DUI arrest is an automatic 30 day license suspension along with a year CDL suspension

Mass .gov site reads as 0.04 in commercial vehicle and doesn't list the level for non commercial. Defense lawyer websites bounce between CDL = 0.04 and commercial vehicle = 0.04. Not fun to figure out when in cuffs.

Not trying to be argumentative, but there are a few CDL things that have are talked about, but that info doesn't always match the law. And each state writes shit differently.
