What's new

Local to you gas prices.

Gas $2.89

First time in 4 years I've paid less than $4 for boat gas. 3.95

3.69 gas
3.44 diesel

Some stations have diesel costing more than gas. Haven't seen that in quite a few years.

when i was living in CA back in 2003. diesel was cheaper, we had a VW TDI and that thing was awesome. but something happened with fuel prices around then and ever since diesel was more that gas from then on. at least that what i recall.

I recall similar.

You must be a puppy.

It used to a lot cheaper than reg. gas. I think about 25 yrs ago, the prices went ahead of 87-
Not exactly.... pushing 50.

But I never really paid much attention to diesel prices growing up. We didn't get our first diesel until i was in my 20's.

Diesel fuel was always a lot cheaper than gas when I was growing up.

Did you know that it's a byproduct of making gasoline and they can't help but make it? That's why it was much cheaper than gas for all those years but when driving diesel cars/trucks to save $ became fashionable the oil companies decided to make it much more expensive because they were selling so much more...

This is what my grandfather told me. He also said that it was part of the reason people switched to diesel tractors instead of gasoline ones.

The demand for diesel is / was part of the problem but a bigger problem was when the .gov demanded low Sulphur according to a refinery friend of mine.

The low sulphur deal definitely fucked things up. It added another process to the refining of diesel that was never needed before with their "waste product" so they had to raise prices to account for it.

It's true. Diesel was so abundant they were practically giving it away at the pumps just to get rid of it years ago. Now with the low Sulphur mandate they have to refine it more so they batch what's needed in the US and sell the remainder of the unrefined diesel to other countries that don't have fucktarded laws like we do.

IIRC propane is a byproduct of the cracking process for gasoline and natural gas is drawn off or flared at the well head.
"natural gas" is just mostly methane
propane is just a little heavier than isobutane and lighter than iirc pentane?

it's all the same shit, just with different chain lengths

Weird to blame it on consumers, always figured it was thr government trying to regulate what all the fuck was blended in to make it "cleaner and more economical friendly "

I just did $4.25 at my cheap shop in Placerville. Georgetown 'stalled' at $4.85. Not worth a special trip down hill to fill up since I'd waste 2 gallons round trip:shaking: But I try to find a reason to get down there when possible.

Central Illinois
3.29 for gas
3.39 diesel

Not seeing anymore Biden I Did That stickers on the pumps, but still have the gigantic sticker reminding us that the FFIC Prickster defered the 2.2 cent tax hike for 6 months 2 years ago
