Yes, it's just me in this thread talking about groups. :confused:

We're having a specific discussion about a group of enslaved people. It's not possible to talk about slavery in the US without some form of collectivizing.
 
We're having a discussion about the descendants of people who were enslaved 150+ years ago.

Mandating advantages for people based on race IS racism. I have no idea how that is a controversial thing. Yes, black people in this country suffered tremendously under slavery. They suffered tremendously for a good century afterwards with Jim Crow laws, "separate but equal" bullshit, etc. But you don't make things right by turning around and mandating discrimination against another group of people who had nothing to do with those injustices.

So...exactly what do you think we should do? Reparations? Acknowledgement? Give them 40 acres and 3 mules?

Exactly what to the point that we're even and can move the fuck on without that constant crying about something no one toady had any fucking part of?

Honestly, I'd be for reparations at this point if it means we call it even and ban affirmative action and all other race based advantages/disadvantages but I also know that wouldn't happen. It would be both.

I'm not advocating for doing anything. I stated that claiming blacks today owe America a debt for being forced to come here is racist.

I don't think it's necessarily racist, it's just a dumb argument.

I mean, someone could come to the honest conclusion that a black person is better off being in America today vs. western Africa where most of the slaves came from. That's not a racist conclusion. It's just an honest appraisal of the two situation. Claiming those people owe America a debt for that is possibly racist in it's motivations and definitely dumb, but jumping straight to racism is making a big assumption.

Many individuals with like minded concepts/ ideals form a collective you dolt. You realize you can be a human AND opt to be a part of a book club, right?

Individualism is GREAT. You can still be an individual inside of or outside of a community. Stop mindfucking it.
