KTM 300 question

I have a 21’ Ktm 300xc. Had the suspension done to my weight/style. Converted the fork to MX tech lucky cartridges and springs. Way better than the air fork. Linkage style raar is better in my experiences compared to the pds on the xcws. I find the XCW trans sucks. 1st gear is too low and the gear spread sucks. The Xc has plenty of power down low. No need for a crawler gear like xcw, the gear spread is way better and more useful. I run stock gearing and have no issues on tight/slow sections. The tpi is amazing. Lectrons and smart carbs are for people who don’t know how to jet properly and believe everything they read in a forum. They either run great up top or down low, never both. Sacrifice power or response in my experiences. Waste of time and money.
I also have a 18’ yz250x, 18yz250fx, 16’ Beta 500rrs. The yz250x hasn’t been ridden since I got the 300. I love it but kick start sucks when riding in groups. The yz250fx is a sweet bike. Plenty of power and great suspension. Wish they’d make a 350cc version. The Beta 500 is an easy bike to ride if you have throttle control. Lugs good and rips up top. Fun in the dessert/open areas. Still works well on single track and it’s street legal. Feels small. Stock suspension was shit, a respring and valve change fixed that. The 300 is easy to ride and doesn’t wear ya out. Lugs really well. I prefer 2 strokes for the easier and cheaper maintenance.
The 16-18 300xcs are a great bike but I think I’d get a TPI bike. It’s really pretty simple. They run very well. Like anything if you neglect it, it will bite ya in the ass. Fuck cleaning carbs and jetting for altitude. They run well stock in all situations. There’s a tune the dealers can get ya that sets it up for more oil injection/comp use. Way better than the emissions tune.

Fact! I'm about 210lbs and ran that 150 through some stupid spots..... You gotta ride the fuck outta that lil bike:lmao: Its fun though, you gotta do everything perfect

If there were a bit more dealers for TM's I woulda gave them an eyeball. I had it narrowed down between the beta and sherco mainly because they had a carb.
How are the KTM 250’s for a 200 lbs rider? Not looking to haul ass but want to have fun on tamer trails.

You're not twisting the throttle WOT on a 250, it doesn't matter what you weigh.

I'll make you a great deal on one.

It's even plated.

I'll give ya treefiddy cash if you deliver it to the race next weekend. :flipoff2:

Such a nice bike! :smokin:

When I rebuilt mine the last time I had them hone it to a A piston, hoping I can just add letters...

Don't hone them if the cylinder is still round. No need.

As a bonus, the smoother the surface the better the rings last and the more power they make. Nykasil 2 stroke cylinders are not 4 strokes. They do not need honing.

I'm on piston number 9 on my old husky. The 1 piston I melted, I acid bathed the jug to melt the aluminum off.
It's never been honed or re-plated and has better compression than new every time I get 5 hours on a new piston.

Pussy! :flipoff2:

I hold my 360 wide open all the time. It only does 115 flat out

I have also been told by teenagers I'm a crazy maniac on a bike. I just got lucky to ride with some really fast guys, so my easy pace is still "hammer down and have fun as fast as possible without pain". When I was fast the pain part didn't matter.:homer:

I might be putting a new fender on this afternoon from holding it wide open in the rocks a few weeks ago, but I made it out the other side! :grinpimp:

terrain makes a big difference :flipoff2:

The shit part with buying a used bike now is that the prices are all kinds of fuckered up.

A 10+ year old haggard as fuck woods bike is $3k-$4k
A 5-6 year old bike is $5-$7K.
If you shop around, a new bike can be had for $9kish.

Thats not enough savings to make buying used worth it IMO

If your in 1st you already fucked up and are just waddling along.:flipoff2:

2nd is the gettin gear
3rd is the fender gear
4th+ is all safe cuz thats road riding:lmao:
