What's new

KTM 300 question

He clearly said 250R? Not F? Water cooled rocketship vs air cooled tractor?

Beings I eave the room and you all pig pile on:flipoff2:

This is the bike
I loved the bike
I am old
and raced Vet classes (and did pretty good for my classes)
No valve problems
Not Pro
Not claiming to be pro
It was a fun bike

I am willing to bet the new shit is light years ahead of what this was

Now I am even older, and ride off road with the kid so I have been out of it for a bit, but she wants to get into MX, I might get a MX bike again

continue to flame :flipoff2:

Yes we know what that is.:barf: Posting a honda 250f pic in a ktm thread is just.....:shaking:

I have an old TTR 125 that I used to race in a local indoor series, (again Vet class)
That was a cant loose situation, if I win, you look bad, if I loose, well you are on your 10,000.00 KTM and I get a pass
:grinpimp:

it is all fun

The 300 has been in the 80's a bunch. All mostly on gravel road.

GPS said 97 and was still pulling hard when I chickened out on my 540. That was pavement though. Michelin Starcross soft terrain whatever tires:laughing:

I don't own a street bike because I test rode a 600, 15 minutes later I knew it only did 158 and decided it would kill me.

I regularly go to reach for the next gear on gravel and realize I'm already pegged in 6th.

I don't have the thing in my brain that tells me I'm going fast. I either have room to go faster, or I'm braking. :flipoff2:

I'm starting to understand you guys just don't try very hard to go 100+.... :lmao:

Terrain makes a difference. Only place to do that shit is on the road.

Around here if you average 20mph you are haulin ass

I also own nothing fast for a reason:laughing:

My KX500 was geared stock and would top out at about 89 on the vapor tach I had on it.

My '19 YZ450fx geared 14/49 did about that much on pavement awhile back, maybe in the 90s. Elevation and engine wear kills me around here, I'm not good at keeping the engine crispy :homer:

Well ya anything will break with enough time on it. Shit wears out. In general, they were good bikes if taken care of. I grew up on mid 80's xr's. A 250, then a 500 , and finally could afford a new CR after a while on a 600. They didn't have the best ergos but at that time I didn't know any better.

I think it helped me learning skills on something that didn't fit me very well, didn't have much power, and even worse suspension. I learned how to adapt and work with the bike not against it.

I have had a 2010 Ktm 300xc since 2012. I love that bike. Raced many single track races with it. Did the slavens top end on it awhile back, and Rider's Edge suspension setup. Great bike.

Just waiting for a new rear master cylinder to come in so I can get it up and going again. It's been parked the last couple of years, just no time.
