What's new

Javier Milei / Argentina

What stipulations does it come with? That are actually enforced. I mean, we've funded the shit out of Saudi Arabia for years and they thumb their nose at us at every turn. We've been made absolute suckers.

Huh ?

You are saying that our loans to Saudi keep them afloat ? Maybe you can explain or clarify because that doesnt sound right, even to you. :flipoff2:

Surely your words hold true many other places, countries, example the Philipines, but Saudi Arabia ? Do you mean the presence of our military in the region and our alliance ( do we have one with them ? )

What are the chances that Milei is going to fundamentally change Argentina? Pretty darn low I think.

Argentina is so thoroughly screwed up that even if the right policies are enacted (shrink government and unleash the free market), there is going to be a lot of pain, and whether the Argentinean people will vote to continue going in that direction is very debatable.
Check out Chile, looking for balance and swinging away the past few years

No. I'm saying that we don't back our words with action when it comes to foreign aid. We say this and that and want this and that but ultimately it doesn't matter. The checks get written anyway so they do whatever they want and still get their checks. Good work if you can get it

Most of those checks end up getting laundered into the pockets of defense contractors through arms sales and that's the real story.

This is true.

The countries that get aid from Russia or China always vote with them in the U.N., but our so called “allies” often vote against us. Completely stupid. (Actually, completely crooked)

All that aid to Saudi is about two things - having a puppet in OPEC and helping keep regional peace. Safe to say both are colossal failures and if it wasn't for defense contractors getting rich off of it and funding political campaigns we would've cut the spigot off years ago. It's all a massive money laundering grift

Honestly I didn’t know we gave any aid to the house of Saud. Can anyone elaborate ? If we do that is insane. Maybe we sell them mil equip but give aide ? They are drowning in cash.

It's a little more nuanced than that...

House of Saud does not like Iran privately....just public..

Iran is what it is in large part because we helped overthrow their government.
Well..we backed the shah.....

Till the ayatolla took over...,then took 79 hostages for over a year

I posted before though...look at pics of Iran before 1979...when we backed the shah....and they started to go westernized

True Easty  That was a long time ago. The insane religious faction took over after test and turned the country onto a path of ruin. Some people have long selective memories.
