Wonder how much test iron mike will be on. Maybe even more than jake paul

When I was young I would have jumped in the ring with Mike in a heartbeat. Take my beating, cash the check and retire. I was most assuredly overconfident in my survival ability.
Now there isn’t a chance I’d get in there with him. I’m pretty sure I’d die if I got hit that hard now:laughing:
I’m a year older than he is.

“Trust the experts”

The funny part is that the odds makers aren't trying to pick winners, they're trying to get relatively even money on both sides of the ledger. That's why odds move as bets come in.
Also, I work with a guy in his early 60’s who has been a weight lifter since 19. 100% Tyson can still be that fast.

The dude I work with can still do high rep squat work outs with 350lbs. on the bar. I’m talking like 10 reps. With 450lbs. I think he’s doing like 4-6 reps.

So a guy who has probably continued his boxing for the last 30 years is definitely able to maintain speed and strength. If he gets hit he’s going to feel a little longer, but still dangerous.

Speed and strength are very different. You can hold onto strength with age for a lot longer than you can hold onto speed. Speed and reflexes are the first things to fade. The old saying is that power is the last thing to go for fighters.

Just personally speaking at 41 years old currently, 20 year old me would smoke current me with ease in any speed, agility, or leaping test but in terms of just sheer strength I'm probably just as strong maybe even stronger.

I agree. I consistently roll with guys half my age and younger. My grip strength and just overall strength is still good from years of working with my hands / lifting. Ive always been explosive which came with sacrificing endurance. It was manageable when I was younger and could grind through prolonged intensity but now that Im older I really have to be careful using explosive power or I will gas out really quick. I feel the explosiveness is still there but the peak capacity and capacity to use it as well as the ability to process the oxygen has definitely fallen off. Whereas my overall strength is still there.

I’m just the opposite. I box with guys half my age. Hell I’m the oldest guy in the place. I pressure the heck out of the young guys to gas them out. They are quicker than me but I have a much better gas tank. The running a shovel longer than they have been alive probably helps me.:homer:

There is nothing more glorious than seeing the kid half your age across from you straining just to keep his gloves up.

A lot of folks overlook that there are huge genetic impacts on cardio too acting like it's nothing but hard work. Sure it's one of the things you can most improve on but everyone has different floors ceilings.

Well like was mentioned earlier, fast twitch vs slow twitch plays a huge factor. Thats why rarely you see sprinters that are also good long distance runners.

Then you have the folks who just don't have an athletic bone in their bodies and both have no explosion and no endurance. It's like, damn. You sure are lucky to have been born in the modern era. As recently as a few hundred years ago your ass would've just been left out to fucking starve.

Yeah it’s the one thing I didn’t realize until I started boxing is how much your punches rely on your legs. Some nights I throw 1200-1500 punches. Arms and shoulders are not sore, but my legs are just beat. It’s crazy, but if you’re punching with the correct form that power should be coming from the ground not your arms.

This.

Tyson is very well trained/versed in "sitting down on your punches" which is why he would turn the lights out on much bigger opponents in his prime. Watching him clean the clock of many an opponent from merely his stance was a beautiful thing. :smokin:

He, nor any good boxer with high skill, can lose that tactic of knowing how to sit down on your punches.

That shit is full on muscle memory and he couldn’t stop it if he tried.

Paul is -500

You bet $500 you win $100

I believe Tyson is +375

You bet $100, you win $375.

To sum it up, this fight is a joke in the experts eyes and Paul is going to destroy Tyson.

The current odds are most reliable imo.

These numbers will change dramatically right before the fight. What typically happens is the big money flies into Vegas and whoever they’re betting on, drive the odds that direction. Tyson has huge name recognition and the ghetto takes over Vegas during trashy fights like these. They’ll for sure bet on Tyson and make his odds look better.

This is why I’ll wait till 15 minutes before the fight to bet on Paul. His odds will likely be closer to -150 to -250. That’ll give a better payout.

If you believe in Tyson, you throw your bets now.
Why would one bet on something knowing if they "won" they'd still lose money?:homer::confused: Fuck gambling.

is gonna fight Mike Tyson? :lmao:

How about when that hottie Lia Thomas won all the women’s swimming sprints AND all the long distance events?? Shows what you know!

:flipoff2:

Right….because pointing to one extreme example outweighs millions of other examples and….taaa science.

If tyson can stay away from that looping right he will break pauls ribs up so bad he wont be able to breath. Tyson knows he is not as fast as he once was. He will slow his opponent down enough to gef the big puncb in.
I saw this in the roy jones fight. Jones could not hardly breath in the post fight interview. He was hurting so bad he held his rib cage the entire interview. Lol

I wouldn't be surprised if tyson lets him win

Listening to mikes podcasts over the years , he doesnt have the dark kill the opponent and kill all of opponents family mentality he once did. He said that himself.

Coach says body shots are money in the bank. They don’t drop you unless they hit the liver however they add up and chip away at your stamina.

Most definitely. Tyson still has plenty of power , he just doesnt have the speed of his younger days. Tyson needs to keep paul tied up and on the ropes. Just beat the body up long enough and that head shot will come.
