Who was Elon Musk supposed to fight ? Was it Zucker or Bezos ? Wut happened to that, speaking of bullshit ?

Tyson was the baddest dude on the planet in his prime. You'd have to be insane to get in the ring with him even today.

Agreed. In my day it was Ali then Roberto Duran. Duran for pure true savagery. There were so many great fighters then . . ..

Something has to change in a big way to get the talent and kids coming up to go away from the octagon
This isn’t gonna happen. The kids all want to jump into the octagon these days. The gym I go to has way way more guys doing the mma thing than pure boxing. Just not glamorous enough.

I enjoy watching both boxing and mma. I respect the amount of work and dedication it takes to compete at those levels .

The topic came up a while back …. Who would win in a STREET fight, Tyson or Chuck Liddell and the consensus was Liddell.

I’m not so sure.

Liddell is a machine, but I don’t know how he’d react when he got a in a clench and Tyson bit his ear or nose off.

Tyson is a fuckin animal. I wouldn’t bet against him.

Street fights the fists win. You don’t want to go to the ground. You do and you’ll get kicked in the head.

It’s crazy but after getting punched at for the last few years you start subconsciously picking up signs on what punch is comming. In a street fight that will be a back hand cross 90% of the time. A slip and a lead hook counter and most guys will go to sleep.

He was supposed to fight Zuck. Zuck kept changing dates, venues, rules, etc on him. Elon told him he didn't care when or where, just pick something. They settled on the Coliseum in Rome, Elon agreed as long as they didn't put advertising up because he thought it would be disrespectful. Zuck refused or bitched out. I think he's said publicly a couple times he's moved on from the idea.

That's more or less Elon's account of what happened with it. He explained it on Rogan a while back and said he was still up for it iirc. Zuck was in way over his head imo, Elon is significantly larger than him and has a similar amount of training.

I agree that you aren't the target, I'm not going to watch it either, but it's tough to deny that it is a PR boost to the sport. MMA absolutely crushed boxing. Into the ground, Mayweather was the last fighter to be worldwide, and he was generally boring to the masses. It's been over 20 years since a heavy hitter made headlines....

No argument from me on any of your points. However I do believe there is a resurgence of interest in boxing.
The heavyweights have a few serious contenders, and while the fights are slow to come together, they are gradually making it happen. Wilder fury. Usyk Fury. AJ Wilder. Ngannou is an outlier but a genuine contender and draw card.

Let’s not even start with the talent in the lower weights. Crawford, Garcia, Tank, Charlo x2, Lopez, shit, even Tim Tszyu is carving out a name for himself and following in the footsteps of his father. It’s exciting to watch.

All these guys are keen to get in the ring and bang. As noted, it’s the promoters and lawyer-types slowing things down, but for the first time in what seems like a long time there’s no shortage of talent, balls and money in the same room.

Mike is still a monster hitter. Jake has never for one second in his entire career had the kind of energy Mike has when he brings his A game. Jake has taken some hits without getting knocked out that impressed me. I want to see how that big dumb head of his holds up to Tysons hammers.

Holy shit. All the over analyst's in here are what killed all of the shit they are over analyzing.

Let Tyson and Paul duke it out. Quit being over analyzing doucebags. :lmao:
It’s not over-analysis, it’s lamenting the evolution that social media has brought the sport to. If you want to watch a YouTuber and a 60yo guy duke it out, go for it.

You can still be a fan of KOH while being disappointed in the bros who go out to spectate and fuck up the experience for those who love wheeling. Just like you can still crank one out to Kaitlyn Jenner whilst respecting Bruce’s achievements as an athlete. Not everything is mutually exclusive.

There you go, over-analyzing again.

Thanks for proving my point. Damn some of you will argue about not being ??? enough.

I was never a boxing fan, but I really enjoyed watching Tyson. I don’t know what he possesses inside him to smash someone’s face that hard with a regulation sized glove on, but it’s always been awe inspiring. :smokin: No one in boxing, to my knowledge, has ever shown the ferocity of Tyson in boxing.

It’s also not a fad or glamorous-thing for MMA to be the main focus. If anyone is being honest, comparing MMA and boxing is like comparing technical rock crawling to mudding. MMA just requires more skill than standing and duking it out. I’m not saying professional boxers aren’t highly skilled, because they are, but they don’t have to fight guys highly trained in 3-4 different fighting styles. They also don’t have to worry about ground skills, or even kicking skills.

No idea how this is going to play out. I want Tyson to win. But Gracie came back and Matt Hughes wiped the floor with him. Fedor’s return was abysmal. Maybe Tyson will break the mold.

EDIT: Wait, is Paul a YouTuber, or a champion MMA fighter? I quit following MMA after the second season of The Ultimate Fighter. :flipoff2:

Paul is a YouTuber who turned pro boxer. He has never fought a proper opponent. All his opponents have been old dudes, mma guys, football players. Basically like as mentioned above a pt Barnum show.

If you’re bored tomorrow turn on ufc 299. It’s gonna be one of the best cards ever. I’m excited to see the a 135 lb dude O’Malley toss huge haymakers. I’m even more excited to see BenoitSaint-Denis a ex French special forces guy just basically will himself into a win.
