I cut the cord..

Now that it's crimped, buy a can of brush-on-electrical-tape and go to town. It dries fast so you can do like 5 or 10 coats if you're really concerned. It a plastic paint stuff like plasti-dip.

I’ve been in the electrical trade for 26 years, so I have scotch 33 and nuke tape/ Scotch 70 EVERYWHERE. But who in the **** doesn’t have a roll of even ****ty electrical tape in their house? Oh ya, OP.

your house is going to burn down, make sure your insurance policy on your ***less, fat slob wife is up to date.

Step 1 was removal. The wire looked like a vine in my drunken state. It was an "oh ****" moment when the ac quit. The wife was and still is pissed.

Step 2 I realized and there was plenty of slack. But thanks for yall.

Step 3 I used crimp connectors, it's working but I'm not sure about the durability. Don't have any electrical tape either. But I need something more weather-related...

Step 4 didn't do that due to trying to find something to cover it up before I do.

Step 5 no ****ing chance, I'll be sleeping in my car. And, I'll pull all these wires before I leave. Because life, inflation, and the fact that she's a fat slob that doesn't feel that she needs to work for a living.

Crimps suck for solid wire.

Wire nuts or a WU splice are the way to go.

or zip tie a glass jar upside down to the lineset and stuff the wires up into the jar

Waterproof, and serviceable!

How can a member of this forum not have the parts necessary on hand to fix something like this? Hell, strip, twist and electrical tape will make it work as a temp repair...I'd probably do a bunch of solder and heat shrinking or just replace the run if I could.
I'd throw some wire nuts on it and shove it in Ziploc bag with some rubber bands and silicone lol

You guys are assholes and I love yall. Electrician brother in law (more like a brother) recommended options..

Option 1. Take it back apart and get some heat shrink with a some sort of glue inside. He said they may carry it at a parts store or else it's amazon.

Option 2. Lots of electrical tape and a drip loop. I hadn't heard of a drip loop as I shy away from electrical. Since I know nothing about it, pretty redundant.

Sooooo, since I'm lazy I'll try the electrical tape and drip loop. Pics to follow...

Twist wires together goop jb weld over the connection.
strip off about 2-3" of wahr
split it in two about 1/2-3/4" up from the insulation, wrap them into an eyelet in opposite directions, then twist the tails onto the exposed bit about 3/16-1/4" below the eyelet you formed
tin it all good

star washers and bolts
rubber tape then friction tape

ETA: there's actually a pliers made for this, it looks kinda like a snap ring pliers, but the jaws are tapered cones the whole way down

So now that you’ve got the wife handled…… what’s he do about the cut wire??????
