I did the balance bead packs with my 40s. The tires were used and the beads seem to work well. Maybe the shop would throw a pack in if you provided them and paid cash.

Hah, I ran a supertrap on that thing for years. I tore it off trying to get into Ellis creek via 14N05 in early April around 2008 or so. Buried the Jeep and had to winch out. Finally came back in through the granite bowl, ice and uncontrolled slide to the bottom and a couple stucks past whale bones. The tree wells on the wentworth side were a no go.
Had a mt lion circle my tent, lots of tracks, in the middle of the night while camped at ellis. The next morning while hiking to little sluice, saw the mt lion just before walker hill. Made it into little sluice , stepped into a hole, got stuck to my shoulders and had to dig out. Got a call on the ham radio from Mr. Jenkins letting me know the storm was coming in a day early.
Had to winch out of the granite bowl and up the slabs by the spillway as the snow started. By the time I got to hwy 50 it switched to rain. When I hit the stop sign at hwy 50 there was a chp sitting there that just shook his head, I was running with no top. Friggin awesome solo trip.

Before the adventure starts, the factory belts didn’t seem to ever lock up. Figure I’d change to a 4 point harness as the TJ will primarily be used off road. It will be driven to trails. Internet is full of contradictory info…some say to leave the
factory belts as they will work better in event of a crash. Since they didn’t seem to lock…probably not true in this instance.
Got the harness bar and seat brackets from Rockhard 4x4.
Only have a few hours into using the harness, but so far seems really comfortable

Pulled a control arm to clean and check the condition of the Johnny Joint bushings. Many of the zerks won’t take grease. The zerk was crammed with old dry grease. The bushing was dry and had rust from the ball. No pics of the inner ball, it was rusty and pitted, but I wire wheeled it and reused it. Heck, if the bushings survived with the rust and dirt, they should be happy now.
I had a bag of bushings, so I did replace them.
The Jeep included the fancy Johnny Joint tool, made pulling and replacing souped easy.
Will work my way through the other 6 arms.

I made a tool for mine with big ass washers sliced pipe and all thread.
My joints get hammered with the short arms it also seems like forcing grease into them can actually blow the bushings out of the joint. I use the grey moly grease, seems to keep them quiet.

Small maintenance day.
The vents were stuck and wouldn’t move from side to side. Years of dust has locked them up.
They are now free to move about the cabin.
Also checked out the cigarette lighter to see why it didn’t work..putting a good fuse in fixed that. Want to change it for just a USB charger.
Thinking of using something like this:

I did something similar in my truck. Look into the amp ratings because it might not be enough for newer phones or tablets. It is a pretty simple instal. I did fheir rocker style one in the Cherokee with the winch controls.

Got one little thing done. TJ has onboard air, with a manifold on the firewall. Manifold had a line running to front bumper, a line under the hood and a coupler on the manifold. I wanted a line on the back bumper to make airing up easier.
An order from Apex for some airline. Ordered 16’ , used about 15’ of it. I ran the line inside the frame.
Used a coat hanger from the pregnancy kit to pull the airline where the skid plate bolts are. The rest of the frame is open.
Line exits on the inside of the frame by the gas tank

Found a street elbow at Homo Depot for the manifold.
And maybe an hour later a new airline is ready for use. I do need to make a mount for the coupler, for now used the trusty zip tie to hold it.

Got the cigarette lighter changed out for a charge port.
Jeep had an occasional squeal, finally did it when I was airing up so I could get a good listen. The tension pulley seemed like the culprit. Got that changed.
While I had the belt pulled, seems a good time to replace it. It didn’t seem in bad shape, but with aftermarket air compressor, wasn’t sure if the factory belt still fit. Easier to figure that out now. Old belt went into the trail repair kit. Freaking $50 belt.
Finished all that and start the jeep. Hmm, dash gauge is reading 12 volts. Not charging. It’s a new -ish alternator, only a few hundred miles with it. Was supposed to be an upgrade, using the Dodge 3500 V10 alternator with rated output of 130 amps. Compared to the stock one of 75 or 90 amps. Toss the old one back in, it’s charging again.
