Go fast 3 Link Tacoma sas

I finished the red 4door I’ve been building for a guy as well. It turned out good I think. Very similar to mine suspension wise and also fit some 3.0x16s on the rear.

Ran the rubicon twice this summer. This is from our trip in July.

Rubicon was exciting to say the least. We cruised up on Saturday and parked the tow rigs at Tahoma. Cruised around to loon lake Sunday and started around 1130. Passed a ton of people getting towed out and the trail in general was just busy. Made it to buck no issue and slept the night. Monday we went to the springs and our usual spot at the slabs was taken so we went to dirty dozen. Me being an idiot went to far to the left and found a deep hole. Fan blade smacked the water and truck died. It didn’t want to restart so my dad pulled me out and it eventually started. That’s when I found the hole in the radiator.

Got it parked and let it cool off and got the radiator pulled. We used the jb weld we had (3 tubes) and it still leaked pretty good. Some old guys gave us a tub of bondo and said it’s great for radiator repairs but it was a little old and dried out. We tried some radiator stop leak but nothing was working. We used it the best we could but still somehow managed to miss a small hole in the dual core and it leaked to much to get up Cadillac and out on. Tuesday we ran out to Tahoma in my dad’s jeepster, grabbed the spare fan blade I had in the Ram and then went to sparks to summit racing and got an identical radiator from them. Ran back to Tahoma. Took the jeepster In and by 1pm the new radiator was in.

We planned to hang out Wednesday but caretaker st the springs said a big group was coming in for the jamboree so we left around 9 and made it to Tahoma staging are with no issues only to find my camper door had been smashed in by a bear and the camper ransacked. Looked like he smelt some gum and a few mountain house meals I missed. He had a good time tearing the cabinets open and drank some beers. Only real damage is the door and cabinet doors and all fixable. Only damage to the truck was the inside of the tailgate which I won’t know how bad it is till I take the camper back off. We left early Thursday morning for the long drive home and thankfully no more issues.

Overall it was more issues than we like but all part of it. We had fun and I’ll flush the radiator and do a new thermostat and it’ll be ready for the next trip.

Went back up to the rubicon and ran it again for the tacos on the rubicon event. Was a good time. No issues besides a rear end noise in my dad’s jeepster. No bear breakins but they did get our trasharoo the last night and shredded it

Sometime during the summer I finally added a coolant overflow for the radiator and power steering. Put in a rugged radio m1 and intercom. Swapped the single led headlights for dual bd old school hids and made a new door for the camper. And a bunch of other small projects.

Went back to trail hero. It was super hot so not much wheeling. Ran a new trail called sanitarium. It was hard and lots of 3 wheel action. Trans definitely got hot and puked some fluid and melted the shifter cable again. And backed into a sand wall but no real damage. Dads jeepster took some minor damage but all fixable

And with winter coming, I destroyed my plow on the skid steer last winter and ended up picking up a bigger stronger one on marketplace for a few hundred bucks so whipped up a mount for the 83. We will see how it does. Comes out with a few pins so I can still drive it when I want.

And then sometime after the second rubicon trip, I started a new build for myself. Plan is a 4500 car with a Tacoma skin. Still very early stages and I may start another page to document it as there’s a few 4500 cars being built right now in the general section.

Im sure I missed it someplace, but where are your lower links mounted at the frame? Inboard? (white Taco)
And did you ever mount the PRP's in the Taco? If so, what did you do for the mounts?

Slick.

Love the 83 and looking forward to your 4500 build!
Thanks! 83s a horrible daily considering I drive 100 miles round trip and it needs gas once a day so the 89 takes most of that duty but it’s a fun little truck to screw around in especially now that I fixed most things.

I’ll probably end up starting a new thread for the 4500 car to keep it separate.

The lower links are slight inboard. Essentially made a bracket that places the mount just inside the frame. I can grab some pictures if needed.

I did not lol. Still sitting in the closet and they’ll probably end up in the new build. I did pickup a 3rd seat that’s just black and no heat or anything but same style I may order a matching one with heat and make some brackets and throw it in the white Tacoma. Also considering slapping an exo on it with a harness bar to run harnesses.

If you ever bust another rad, just take the damaged cores, fold them over a few times and pinch them off.
We originally tried that. I think we missed a small hole towards the center of the cores. We pinched several rows off and then filled with in weld and when that didn’t work tried the bondo. It was towards the center of the two cores as it would leak out in the middle of the bondo. We messed with it for several hours trying to avoid having to drive out to summit but didn’t work sadly lol

Gotcha, always easier from behind the keyboard :flipoff2:

We were doing everything to not have to drive out haha. The old guys that gave us the bondo said to pinch off the entire side that the damage is and we did but obviously mixed something. The bondo was pretty old and clumpy as well so it didn’t flow into the radiator like we wanted and we ran out of jb weld so I think we essentially created a pocket in the middle surrounded by bondo and jb weld and it leaked the water out between the two cores. Oh well though. Now we carry bondo 😂

Ended up taking the time and started a new thread in the general section for the new build. Go give it a follow even though there’s not much Tacoma left at this point.
