GLTHFJ60's Garage Chronicles

did you forgo the conduit?

No, decided to omit it. Wanted to focus on getting the pour right and not worrying about the conduit placement. I think I'm going to build an overarch between these two columns that the hydraulic lines will go through, which will serve the same purpose.

Nope, just two lines out of the pump, one to each cylinder.
Wonder if that uses a splitter valve then. I think they're something like a gear pump, and force the fluid to be the same volume in two lines.

I guess it's just as (or more!) important to make sure they stay in time while lowering. More important in case one side jams or only one side catches a lock.

Off to google how those work...

Last update for a while I think. One column needed a few shims to get it to sit straight side to side. Thinking about filling the underneath with non-shrink grout, but not sure it's needed.

It doesn't lift super evenly, I'm sure as a result of the lack of synchronization, but it's close enough.

Columns don't appear to deflect inward much if at all with the truck up. This isn't max height, I'm just a bit nervous to push it all the way up for the first time when I'm the only one home. I'm a bitch, I know.

Now that the load test was done with the cruiser, time for the immediate project, doing some maintenance stuff to the new-to-us 911 that had been abandoned.

Harbor Freight wheel dollys are pretty slick for fine tuning the car's position, and for lifting it up a few inches to make positioning the lift arms easier:

This is on the top stop, so max working height, on the lift. I have to just barely tilt my head to walk underneath, perfect. Feels solid AF too.

This is, without a doubt, the most fun I've ever had doing an oil change, lol.

That's it for now. Thanks everyone for the advice through this project, time to stick my head in some car projects for a while. :grinpimp::grinpimp:

Buy some pole jack support deals to help take the wiggle out.

The first time your really reafing on something and the whole car moves above you, you'll know why.
There's one in one of the pics above! Picked it up with this other stuff yesterday in prep for having the lift usable today.
