Will post pics asap but to describe it, its a 2WD model as it does not have the standard 6 bolt round flange on the rear.

The top cover has the 4 bolt shift tower.

It has a 22 tooth input gear.

Now to take it apart.

Identification, from AA.

GM 4WD NV4500 (1995)
This transmission is identical to the 1993-94 transmission, except the 1st gear ratio had been changed to 5.61:1; 2nd 3.04:1; 3rd 1.67:1; 4th 1:1 ratio, and a 27% overdrive. The noise and shifting problems had been corrected.

Identification of this transmission can be obtained by using the identification charts in this manual. Due to the interchangeability of other NV4500 components, we also recommend that you verify the following information: Starting at the front, this GM transmission should have a input shaft pilot tip diameter of .590”. The spline of the input is 1-1/8” diameter 10 spline and protrudes approximately 6-5/8” from the face of the transmission. This input shaft can be interchanged with other NV4500 input shafts with this 5.61 1st gear ratio. The front bearing retainer index is 5.125”, with a snout diameter of 1.373”, and a front bolt pattern as above. The shifter stud on the top cover is a male threaded connection. The rear of this transmission has an aluminum adapter housing which measures 8-1/8” long; and the output shaft is 32 spline. Most transfer case adapters for this transmission will require the replacement of the tailhousing and the shortening of the output shaft.

NV4500 manual.

Parts:

Input shaft seal 1.250/10 national 21901

"NV4500 RETAINER"

2wd will never have the 6bolt flange dude.

You bothered to count the input tooth count but not measure input shaft lenght or diam?

Does it have a input retainer?
What type? Flat or sleeve?
Does it have a speedo sensor?
Does it have a bell housing?

Its a chevy, input is 1.125 x 6".

Yes has a bearing retainer 3.625 transmission pilot, 5.125 bellhousing pilot.

Its just a core, might have a speedo sensor, had something off the tail housing.

Well thats the ultimate goal for my plans.

It might be, I need to pull the side covers and count the gear teeth.

Have to get other stuff out of the truck as it in the way to get at it.

You just said not a 6 bolt, but did it have a flange at all?

Did the tail have a 4 bolt flange on the back, such as this?

This is one of mine out of a ~2000 C3500HD with yoke mounted parking brake

Just saw your pic.

That’s a C3500 HD like mine. Longer than a normal 2wd, and originally had a parking brake on the back.

It is.

But there was a 95 C3500HD as well as 96-2000.

It all depends what you want/need from it, as if I remember right you have some weird NV4500 conglomeration going on now.

Small pilot
22t = 5.64 1rst gear
Bolt on shifter
Blatantly obvious gm ebrake flange
Small bolt pattern behousing

95 gm

I did a google search for a NV-3500 and it looks nothing like the thing in the back of the truck.

The bearing retainer looks up using the number from it as a nv4500.

Easy to ID by the large plastic filler between bumper and grill.

Hence the parking brake, that’s a 3500HD thing. And GM carried this bodystyle through 2000 on the 3500HD.

You have to remember that they didn’t label nearly every damn 2500 and all 3500s as 2500HD/3500HD’s until the next body style. At that point the beam axle 3500HD was dead.

Compare it to my pics. It’s a 3500HD trans.

That trans is in my personal pickup, the trunk pictures are the day I picked it up. I stood next to the truck it came out of, a 2000 C3500HD tow truck.

I would call your trunk transmission a NV4500.

It came out of GM 3500 at least mine looks like a 4500 not any 3500 or 3500HD ive been able to bring up on google images

I can’t vouch for what year your trans is (but I’d put money on Total Newb), but this is the listing for 1995 C3500.

One is a C3500 and the other is a C3500HD.

Oh good....then Ill get to taking it apart.

To get at the part I plan to use, the case.

OP, if you can't tell from context whether someone is talking about a Chevy/GM 3500HD truck or a NV3500 transmission maybe you should stick to 4spds.

Trying to figure out if its the correct year.

Ya ever disassembled one of these ?

Ive been talking and reading many web pages on this topic on the internet

How many 1995 NV 4500's have you had in your hands to confirm whats said at the old place at the link you posted ?

Or to be straight to the point whats your point with the link posted ?

Why do you act like you dont know the internet exists or how it works?

I fucking own one. Its whats in my c60

I told you up above that it is a 95gm for the reasons listed

Its a fucking specific post about the 95, what and why its different than 92-94 and 96+.

Ive told you 3 times that it is a 95 in this thread.

Youve been told 95 specificaly in no less than 2 of youre own threads you needed a 95 because of the listed reasons.

Do i want to even guess how much you paid for it while you simultaniously cry about not having the money to do other shit and spend extra money on parts you dont need to complete said project?
