forgot power cord.. what would you do?

That is my whole point:shaking:
Thankfully not every business feels the way you do. Harbor Freight gets all kinds of people returning tools they used. Best Buy probably builds it into their business plan.

again, I’d buy a cast and a cord and keep them together.

So Valley meets trailer trash. Close enough.
um, excuse me, CC is refinery/oil field trash meets beach trash, which is a kissing cousin to trailer trash, without the Valley "i am better than you" attitude.

Come on, this is easy shit, like being a CBP officer :flipoff2:

Make it a virtual machine that runs inside another operating system (ie: Windows 10 or some variant of Linux).
That way you arent up the proverbial creek without a paddle if you lose an important piece of hardware in the laptop.
If its an older dos based program, you may just be able to run it in DosBox. We do that with older dos based PLC programming software at work and it works really well.
you know the old meme of the dog on the computer
'oh god how did I get here I am not good at computer'
that dog is me

I can't even get wine to work, VMs are just out in the realm of "well maybe if I stopped working on my house and sold off about ten project cars I could find the time..."

What kind of person returns a cord they used?

who does that??

When Las Vegas hosted the NBA all star game in 2007 all the big casinos had viewing parties for people that didn't get tickets to the game. Well it seems every black or brown hoodrat from SoCal made the trip, when to the Fashion Show Mall and bought their outfits from Nieman, or Saks, or Nordstrom, wore that fancy shit all weekend and then returned them before heading back to SoCal. Armpit juice, food stains, probably blood or worse. The retailers had to throw all that shit in the dumpster. Vegas will NEVER host that shit again.

Ok thats funny as hell! I was trying not compare Arti to the oil trash because at least they have jobs. Sometimes and I have no idea what youre talking about.

Punched in a lengthy reply and the committee decided you should go fuck the right the f
fuck off!

You are either the worlds best troll or the dumbest mother fucker here...and I am not talking some one else's Mom.

Quit fucking your mom please.

You two are fucking up the world.

Building a house, can’t lose $25 on a cord.

If your laptop dies and you can’t post any more I vote no cord until you get home.

this

I have three virtual box machines on my mint laptop, solely for car diagnostic programs.

If you are really stuck in a bind, find a decent hotel chain. Walk in, say you were staying there passing through a few months back and you left your laptop charger in the room. They will let you look through giant containers of chargers. Try to look like a professional and bring the laptop with you.

can you install windows on a bare hard drive?
if so, virtual machines are easier for you than making WINE work.
wine is fucking trash and has always been trash.
It's a halfassed attempt at virtualization that only exists because virtual machines didn't back in the day.

seriously.
virtualbox is pretty damned easy to put winxp on. take you 20 minutes.

or I could just keep on having 5 or 6 computers to do 5 or 6 different things

why wait for fall to start building?? cuz it hits 110-115 like 90 days straight in the summer.. kinda hard to get the hook up, during the hottest part of the year.. however we plan on building a large shed very soon.. for tools.. we have lots of tools between us.. there are already sheds, etc, for tools.. but we want one for just the tools between us..

Who cares how hot it is if you wont be doing the building? When they get finished in the fall you can finish with your dad what is left to do if capable.

He cant even figure out what to do about a power cord, you think he has any capacity toward building a house?

He couldnt even build a remote controlled spot light and hes a self proclaimed robotics expert.

First the password when Austin updated and the cord problem has been a haven sent to the people of this board. We can only hope more difficulty in him posting.

yes, I have worked construction several times.. I've worked on all sorts of projects, plus I used to help friends and family (usually on Sheds, dozen of them).. or helping people work on blinds.. as far as normal construction, usually I would work part-time... back in the early 90s.. like while I would be taking civil engineer classes, cuz building sux.. and I wanted to be one of those cool guys often driving ford trucks..

I'm sure I have forgotten tons of important stuff... but yes I know how to work my ass off...

I know you love to flame me.. but I didnt want "our world" to think I was some wuss, who never had to work hard for little pay.. in construction

Yet you still don't have a job. You could be doing that work but i guess its better if you just work for your benefit right?

hmm well I last worked for the IRS for a few years, even they agree I shouldnt be working any more..

I'm probably just about as mentally disabled as you can be, outside of some managed care place.. and I should know, since I worked at the Austin State Hospital for 2 years, as a Texas Certified Peer Support Specialist.. edit: technically certification started after I was already there for a year..

But you're admittedly pawning off work onto others because........ it's hot out.
no, Im saying in Webb County, its hard to find reasonable prices for outdoor work during the summer.. cuz all summer it hits like 110-115.. I personally will be doing a little ranch work early in the morning and right before the sun sets... a few days a week.. or at least that is one of our goals..

we dont want to pawn the work off to anyone.. and yes, I do have friends who work in the heat, all summer long.. actually a few years, I did it.. when I worked at Hertz Rent-A-Car at ABIA (Austin-Bergstrom International Airport).. the pavement during the summer, really heated the place up.. of course I worked the opposite too, when there would be ice.. and strong winds... thats when I got my 4x4, hertz was a ford company, so low pricing, or atleast it was..
