First Suppressor

Ultrasonic will "ruin" the finish on the outer tube but would work otherwise. If you care about that. The internals and tube are all stainless steel right?

Also you can ship it to silencerco and they'll unstick it for you and send it back

I don’t care about the finish. High temp bbq paint is cheap

I love my Omega 300. I have ASR mounts on several rifles. I am extremely impressed with it on a 14.5" 5.56 AR and it does great on suppressed 308s and 16" 6 Creedmoor bolt rifles

those cans are fine from Deadair, and i own a couple of Deadair myself, but i would stay AWAY from Deadair for a while. They have massive QC issues as DA doesnt actually make anything, its someone else that makes their cans. they are just R&D and marketing.

so... stay away from deadair until they come out on the otherside and see if they actually stay in business.

I've had mine for many years, bummer to hear that. Thats very common to have someone else doing the machine work.
I also have several Liberty cans, love their products and all my F1's

Welcome to Thermal Suppressors -

These guys are local to me and the principal shoots with me along with his 13yo daughter (who will be world class if she sticks with it), they work well, are Ti construction and come in a nice case with tools at a good price. Andrew showed me a baffle stack (again Grade 5 Ti), that had been soda blasted after 8000 rounds and there was zero damage. I'll be getting a 9mm can from him once I find a handguard that can accommodate the 1 5/8 diameter.

I have an oss rad22. It works well and is quite. Have heard it's not the best for large amounts of 22lr. Lots of small areas for carbon buildup. If buying again I would go with a deadair mask. Was sold out when I bought. I don't put a ton of rounds through my 22 can, but it would be nice to not have to worry about it.
Both are full auto and 5.7 rated.

What would you recommend for a .22 can? I have a Sparrow that feels like it weighs 3 pounds now due to all the build up. I know about the Q Erector.
I have a Ruger SR that works great, is 6.3 oz and was pretty cheap.

Why would you want a 9mm can that fat ? Those are just 60* stacked baffles, thats why they need the volume. There are much better options out there, the Liberty Mystic X being one but there are others.

Theres a reason almost no body does that style of baffle anymore except guys making F1 cans, the added steps look cool but don't actually do anything either.

I'd get it hot enough to smoke and blow air through it
it's what I do to burn the carbon outta aluminum intake manifolds and they don't melt

See? That's why I keep you around.

Ended up grabbing an Omega 36M for $800 online and having it sent to my FFL so I can get the paperwork started. A little over my initial budget but I think its worth it based on how many of my rifles I can use it on. I'm going to keep an eye on the Black Friday sales and try to nab a decent priced rimfire can next.

not a suppressor owner yet. really want a rimfire suppressor to start with. .22lr and .17hmr.

I am leaning heavily to the Silencerco Sparrow 22. Anyone have any experience with them? I would have them on bolt rifles so full auto capable doesn't matter to me.

I have one. What do you want to know?

any issues? would you buy one again? mostly wanting it for silent death on tree rats.

No issues other than the end cap carbon welded on. My dumb ass ran over 3K of 22 through it without pulling it apart and cleaning it. Keep in mind the Sparrow is an older design that uses a monocore. While it does an excellent job you do get that first round pop. The newer designs with the stacked baffles pretty much eliminate first round pop. I would definitely considered it for a first can. I am currently looking at the Dead Air Mask HD. It uses the stacked baffles. Long story short, I would recommend the Sparrow. Just make sure you at least unthread the end cap every couple hundred rounds so it doesn’t get stuck on. I only run subsonic ammo in my stuff so it’s stupid quiet. Here is my friend Ian shooting it for the first time. It was so quiet he thought he had a squib.

would i be better off buying the Switchback 22?

I see no real advantage of being able to shorten a 22 can. That is the beauty of capitalism though. We have choices in our country. I am not discrediting that can though.
It looks like the switchback has baffles?

Onto can number 2. Lets talk more about Rimfire cans. Hoping to do some black friday shopping for one. Looking for a stacked baffle can, I know the Mask is up there but not thrilled with Dead Airs current status. Also do .22 Semi auto pistols need a piston mount like the larger calibers or are they just direct thread? I only have a Ruger 10/22 for now but a 22 pistol is pretty appealing.

Most if not all 22 pistols have fixed barrels which don't need a booster, because they don't tilt like browning actions.
Just dirrect thread on the barrel. I would get the deadair mask as it doesn't have a first round pop.
Suppressed subsonic 22 is a lot of fun.
Your 10-22 may or may not cycle subsonic reliably.

The Sparrow has a FRP most of the time. Nothing wrong with it though.
I have a Liberty Vector, not any better than the Mask, just different.
I fully agree with not needing it to be modular, even though mine is.

You'll find like most of us, that the .22 can gets used more than anything else.

looked at the Liberty Vector. it states rimfire and .22lr. Would that include .17HMR as well?

Was shooting a customers tikka 22lr with a lil can on it, in my shop the other day. Pretty sure I need one of those:smokin:

I dropped the coin on a SiCo Chimera 300 to go with my Saker556. I like not having to worry about new mounts and such.... but now the wait begins ::crybaby2:
