Electric push mower

Get a corded mower and make the wife and kids push it.
I can see exactly how that would go. :lmao:

It was mowing just fine and then a bang and it stopped working :lmao:

I can even trust myself with the big zero turn. Pushing the trampoline around with the blades on is a no no :lmao: Didn’t even miss a beat almost slicing completely through the 1.5 tube :lmao:

my mother in law hits anything and everything with the zero turn.
It doesn't help that we (I) uprated it from the factory 19HP to a 23 when the factory motor gave it up.

She complained that the motor was cutting out after the upgrade, turns out she was just coming off the seat because now she could mow hammer down and not bog the motor.

Check the price, features, and reviews. This thing kicks ass:

Man that's a small battery. That comes out to 240wh. My eGo mower battery is 420wh.

EGO push mower here. Expensive but been going really well for its 3rd summer. I recharge the battery like, once a year. Also got a refurb weed wacker that uses the same EGO battery. Moving forward, I plan on buying EGO stuff for the lawn. My next purchase will probably be a EGO chainsaw. My dad has a ryobi 12v (or 18 or whatever) saw and while it seems flimsy compared to a Stihl, it works REALLY well. So I'm sold on electric saws.

I am also a Milwaukee fanboy. But I think the 56v (or whatever) or the EGO is probably better for these bigger appliances than the 18v stuff.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd get the robot mower. I have like, 800 sq ft and it would just be easier to run out at lunch time to let the robot handle it.

We've gotten our money's worth out of the DeWalt 20v, or more since we've been using it as a mulching chipper vacuum for the last two years. By the time we put any lawn in at our new house, it will probably be totaled
Money's worth finally ran out :frown: kinda' :flipoff2:

Drilled 2 holes & cinched shell to plastic structure w/ stainless zip ties so rocks & sticks couldn't wedge in there.
Was hoping keeping the structure from getting into the blade would fix the new knocking noise . . .

Ummm, nope - ruh roh, Scoob:

There were zero traces of balls or cage fragments from that top spindle bearing anywhere inside the case

I would've thought the bottom spindle bearing (larger, on left) would give up first, but it hadn't even started to grenade.

Guessing they accidentally put enough grease in the bottom bearing:homer:

But it gets worse: after 6+ years of outright abuse, the fan in the blade chamber lost a fin:

So I'm pissed :mad3: - after mowing blade-stopping roots, rocks, and debris for only 3 years after 3-4 years of regular abuse, I had to drop 13 bucks on overnighted bearings and another $20 on factory parts delivered to my door. Yeah, I'm feeling pretty ripped off; considering 2/3 of the life is gone from the factory blade, I'll have almost $100 into replacement parts by the time I get 10 years out of this mower :flipoff:

:flipoff2: (Everything that died, gave us our money's worth - I expect another couple years out of it & am totally happy).

Good time for a thread update... anyone else?

FIL wants an battery mower and blower. He gots money and I'm not afraid to spend it.

Need to get a push mower for the cabin. It has like 2500 square feet of lawn to cut. Anyone have a electric mower they would recommend? I’m a milwaukee fanboi but the price premium over the other brands doesn’t seem worth it to me.

I don’t have the time to mess around on Craigslist for a used one, don’t want to mess with gas either.
40v Ryobi is awesome for my uses 1200 ish sq ft. It will do that yard with a 4ah or 5ah battery no problem 1-2 bars left out of 4.

I'm not sure if this a real site or what but it's cheap..m even has 6ah battery.

Whats the objection to gas?

My gas mower is from 1973 or so....bags are getting expensive to replace and they only last a year or so, so I bought new gasser. Looked into the battery stuff but my experience with batteries is unless they get lots of use, they don't last long. Plus, I have enough fucking chargers laying around. The higher voltage mowers seem to perform well, the ones that run drill batteries seem to get meh reviews. I have a bunch of Dewalt stuff, but finding 2 6+ aH batteries at that are fully charged at any given time when I need to mow the lawn doesn't sound like it would work....I'd get in the mood to mow the lawn, find dead matching batteries...charge them, then find something else to do. I don't see a battery lasting 50 years.

Never had a problem with carbs getting gummed up from shit gas in my mower....weed eater and smaller 2 stroke stuff yes, but not the mower.

The DeWalt mower kicks ass! It also comes with batteries you can't use for anything else. :homer:

My concern is...I mow my lawn once every week or 2 if it's not winter....then probably not at all during winter. How many years will those batteries last with 5 months of sitting there every year?

I'm on at least 2, maybe 3 years and they're going strong with a similar mowing schedule.

Maybe I'll buy one when they've proven to last 1/2 as long as my 1973 Snapper Hi-Vac briggs and scrapiron.

Same here. We mow once a week from May to August. This will be our 3rd year with it and the batteries still function like new.

I have two batteries for it and charge them after every use.

One of my 2 10amp batteries took a shit after 4 or 5 years. I bought 2 for $89 9amp amazon ones and they out preform my factory dewalts. Only got 10 mows on them and random grinder/skill saw jobs though. Hoping to get at least 2 years from them

I just finished year 6 of that exact usage and the batteries have not degraded appreciably.
still last for 20-30 minutes depending on grass height and moisture.

How is the suction on these things? I generally blow all the leaves onto the grass and then mow and suck it all up at once. Dog shit too. I don't pick it up. Gets sucked up into the mower. I have small dog so never an issue.

I have a Honda 217 now and that thing is a beast.

How do the battery powered unit do with this? I have been thinking about switching over

in low mode it is not great.
in high mode it's comparable to the as mower it replaced.

my junk mulches, bags or has a side discharge. I usually just mulch, unless it's super long in which case I bag. Saves the battery if you let it discharge to somewhere if it's tall and wet.

What?!?!?!?

the amazon cheaps are performing better than factory? (even at 4-5year age)

that alone would be reason for many to switch brands. everything i have is red, and every amazon cheap battery is shit in use. i can see those that only have light duty drill etc uses cant see the diff... but a mower shoud be high draw and show a batt weakness.

got a link? maybe the same place also has decent red batteries

Anything 80v will probably outperform the EGO in run time, not for any other reason but the higher voltage does not have to work so hard. EGO is all 56v. But the EGO makes a very, very nice product, and their product support is unmatched. I have seen a couple where a circuit board goes on the zero turn, and now they have a 4k dollar tractor. The zero turn is a torqy bastard. The nice thing about EGO, is they stick to Outdoor Power equipment, and not all the cross product like craftsman, Kobalt, and so on.

Greenworks has 80v refurbished 40 percent off with a free battery. Looking at that and a blower same deal probably gotta make 2 orders to get 2 batteries ruff math $600 for mower blower and 4 batteries.

I spent 600 bucks on my 40 volt one with two batteries 6 years ago. That seems like a decent deal.
Fwiw 2 batteries usually mows my lawn unless Ive really let it go
Takes 40 minutes. The second battery usually finishes with one bar left.

I put a blade on it last year and painted the deck because it was starting to rust. I've done no other maintenance. I'm generally happy with the brand

I mentioned before in one of these threads but the first charge they sucked and lasted 125%+ of the dewalt 10amp the seconed charge
