Electric push mower

It comes with (2) 12ah batteries and a dual bay rapid charger. The batteries retail for $250 each. That's half the cost right there
If I went to electric mower, the Milwaukee is the way I'd go, especially if you have other M18 tools.

Lol the only flaw with this theory is I would have to find the fucking battery for the mower BECAUSE it was used on the 1” impact :lmao:. In this case it might be proactive to get a different battery setup so it stays at the cabin and doesn’t get cherry picked for the real work :homer:
Next thing you know, you will have a full set of cordless tools there that don't match anything else...
My brother just picked up a 40v Ryobi chainsaw and was impressed with it, they also have a mower and blower in that line.
The Kobalt 80v stuff is good (we have the weed eater and it will keep up with the Stihl FS110 as long as the battery lasts).
But then again, you're only 10min away by your own admission. :flipoff2:
10 mins from home and the home shops/pit not necessarily 10 minutes from the pit where they last "needed" the 1" impact :grinpimp:

With the Milwaukee you can. That's the whole idea is they draw you into buying $250 12.0 batteries, but they fit the drill, impact, sawzall, weed eater, mower, bandsaw, etc. I'm sure it runs fine off the 6.0 & 8.0 with a shorter run time. Power will go down with standard batteries vs the HD just like every other tool.

I'll probably buy one once my old gas mower dies, but I already have over $10k in tools and batteries so for me it's convenient to keep going with the same batteries.

Considering I already have stuff like the super-hawg that pretty much requires a 8 or 12ah battery to be useful, I see no reason it wouldn't work out just fine.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't use the fuel mx, because then idiots like me would buy them and then need a few light plants and a jackhammer since we have a battery for it :homer:

Yes, I get that. Most people aren't running a 12.0 in a drill though

I've had a greenworks 40V for 6 years. Solid.
I know two people with koblat 80V mowers, also solid.
Bought my mother in law the 80V kobalt string trimmer. Works.

Strongly suspect that kobalt is made by greenworks. So I'd just do that since you can get warranty support at the lowes and not deal with shipping it somewhere.

I have EGO mower and snow blower. They both do OK for what they are. I will still break out my gas powered stuff but the electric cordless was bought so the kids could mow and snow blow without me having to start my cranky old gas stuff.

Friend of mine had a Kobalt, and it shit the bed. Turns out, Lowe's is killing the brand, so parts were a no-go. She got a refund and bought an eGo. Better avoid Kobalt from here on out. I have an eGo myself and love it.
that's a bummer.
the greenworks/kobalt shit was good.

electric mowers are :rainbow:

No fucking small engine carb issues
if you've got less than a 1/2 acre to mow, it really is the perfect solution.
I've literally done nothing other than charge batteries. I think I've sharpened the blade once.
and you can tip it up whenever you want to clean the deck without filling the cylinder with oil or spilling all the fuel out the side of the carb.

I like mowing a lot more now than I did with a gas mower. Quiet, non-stinky, no pull cord to hate (and also repair occasionally). Same with the string trimmer. I trim four or five times a year now. I could barely force myself to trim once a year with the old super shitty 2-stroke. This isn't for big properties, but for smallish ones, this shit is great.

Ha! Weird. That looks nothing like the Greenworks mowers I'm seeing now.
yeah, I didn't buy that model. They tried doing dual motors/batteries before the 80V shit was popular I guess. I bought a single blade steel deck 40V johnny because I wanted the simplest unit possible.

my mother in law couldn't pull start her Stihl trimmer. Electric fixed it.
I have nerve damage in my hands and internal combustion tools make my hands numb for a long while after use. 30 minutes with a chainsaw and I don't feel my hands the rest of the day. It's a fucking bummer. Electric mower/trimmer at least took that away.
Mother in law got the 80V chainsaw, and it's impressively powerful, but it won't run all day.
chain saws and snow throwers still need to be gas powered.

I have an eGo chainsaw too lol... Yeah, never gonna be a lumberjack saw! But it works great for bucking firewood for camping and clearing the occasional downed tree. And I can charge the battery with a small inverter while I drive. And the neighbors don't even know I cut anything.

I actually like that mentality. Keeps the stuff separate. Even at home I bought my wife a ryobi 12v drill instead of an M12. It was like $80 with the battery and I don't have to worry about my batteries walking off or her being mad I took hers

Also hard to justify the price difference for shit that get used once in a blue moon.

Love my dewalt 20v. It came with 2 10amp batteries for cheaper then the batteries alone would have cost. It will probably mow 8-10k sq feet if your doing it at least weekly but drops to 3-4k square feet when pushing through 6-8" grass

Another vote for the Dewalt. Mine has handled mowing thick Bermuda, St. Augustine, various weeds weekly. I just make sure to charge the batteries before starting.

No carb issues with a 2 stroke lawn boy either. No throttle either. WFO from the first pull. Eats small children, animals. Your neighbors will love the haze.......I vote LawnBoy:flipoff2:
Lol I would have to stay away from that. Would want to build a tuned pipe for it lol.

The guy I run the sawmill with has the greenworks. It's great if you mow regularly but if this is for your vacation house that's not gonna see a ton of regular use and is probably gonna turn into a jungle once or twice a summer I'd get a shitty gas mower. You don't wanna have to baby it to keep the battery from fucking off on you and only be half done when it calls it quits.

I still use one at mom's house.
80's vintage.
Carb leaks if you don't shut off the fuel.

Lol it’s a 10 min drive from my current house in the gravel pit. In the summer I’ll prolly have to go over there if I want to see my wife and kids :lmao:

Uggh, I can't share the love a lot of people have for old lawn boys. I had to rebuild tons of lawn boy carbs back in the day working at a small engine shop. That and clean out the "muffler/deck" that would plug up with carbon. They also had 10x more ignition coil failures than any other engine. Those stupid helix recoil starters were a problem too. Overall just very cheaply made.

The old Toro push mowers with suzuki 2-strokes however were the mower of choice for the cemetery across the street and the only service they ever got was a blade sharpening and a new plug at the start of the season.
