What's new

debate time - mountain lion deterrent

Still
What?
Nothing there but ftf,
Nothing about unseating from the cyl.
Only way for that is with the cyl. Open.
If it happens any other time you have a paperweight...

15lb trigger pull? Fuck that

Also be interesting to see if all his ftf's were on the same hole or not?

I have had some rifles do that every so often but it was generally due to 20k rounds worth of crud in the action.

But a brand new gun thats doing that with quality ammo. That gun has issues

well I got something else mixed up cause I was surprised to read/hear it. I hadn't heard anything of the sort before. He does mention light strikes in the vid but that was it.

Either way, use that angle. Show him the video. "see that stupid 22 cant even kill a target 6 outta 6 times, What do you think it will do to a cougar? thats why you need to buy 9mm or 45"

Have any of you seen a Mountain Lion in the wild? I've seen tracks and scat but never an actual lion, and I've been in lion country since I was in Boy Scouts. We have quite a few Bobcat around here and they are not so shy and are seen on a pretty regular basis.
In the wild, like on my property? If so, then yes, several times...

Friqn .22 side of the head, need I remind everyone it's a friqn cat... if you chase it and make noise it'll run... no Bullshit!!

Different critter when she has kittens around.... still .22 is goto... no need for anything bigger. If you can't aim and hit with .22 you have no business strapping anything larger to you.. think about it..

A mountain lion head isn’t exactly a large target.

And no, the whole make noise and chase it thing is fairytale in my personal experience.

No fairytale... sorry to disappoint.... maybe you just aren't Beast enough...no girly boy chasing and screaming...🤷‍♂️

as already stated if you can't pull aim hit a target with what works.... there is no need to spend more on shit you might as well throw at it...... rocks are free .. us them..

When "one" aims small, "one" misses small..... think...tink...tink....think about it

Oh yeah, Mountain Lions head don't get big... I see one off and on half again as big as this one see pic attached.. it'll end up mounted as well at some point. Picture is a friend and his small headed lion. ..

Having dogs = deterrent..

After all they are just a big cat...

Once again ppl refer to first post...

If you are scared it's a cat....hopefully yall get it and I don't need to explain...

You shot that one in the head in a self defense situation with a 22lr pistol?

Because I think that’s what we’re talking about here.

And like I said, from my personal experience, not my friend’s, the yell and make noise to scare them away thing is a fairy tale.

It is one thing to kill a stationary predator and another when it's running at you.
Getting hit with a dead cat at 30mph is a lot better than getting killed by one because you couldn't squeeze off enough accurate shots with the dumbass hand cannon that everyone who doesn't have to lug it around or pay for the practice ammo said you should carry.

Ive seen at least a dozen wild lions, probably more. In general they will do everything possible to avoid human interaction. For every one you catch a glimps of there was probably 100 times you were within a few 100 yards and never knew it.

Now when you come up on one 20 yards away that is staring you down, shooting is a much better option then trying to be big and scary. In the time it takes to realize plan A isnt working its already to late.

There are a lot of assumptions in that statement.

fukk you guys whining about a pistol weighing in around a couple o pounds:homer:
A fukkin Garand weighs in @ #9:flipoff2:
Wait :shaking:lemma go get the old Ladies' stash of tampax

Anything less then a tigerstriped gold desert eagle and the mountain lion is going to think you are a bitch.
Just think about how good of shape you'll be in after carrying it around all the time.
If I had a gold deagle I wouldn't be able to hit anything with it because I'd be laughing too hard after pulling it out.
