What's new

Dark twisted movies, looking for them

Did somebody here recommend the movie Antebellum? I somehow ended up with it as a new movie and it’s not on my list. Not going to give any spoilers but it’s fucked up. Watched it and then went looking for where the recommendation came from. Not sure how I ended up with it but Antebellum is dark!

One Hour Photo.
Robin Williams best work.

Best to not watch the trailer, total spoiler.
Fuck that.

This is the movie you watch when you only have 2hours to live, because it will make those 2 hours feel like FOREVER. And you’ll be ready to die just so it’s finally over.

To say it’s slow is a vast understatement.

The movie that has the longest creep is Fire In The Sky.

It still gets into my head some nights when I’m by myself in the woods after dark.

Our teacher had us watch this in 5th grade. As well as Kujo and some other movies that looking back on it 5th graders shouldn't have probably watched lol.
Flowers In the Attic (1987)

Based on a "true" story up in my neck of the woods (guy went missing for days and ended up about 45 miles away, naked, ran to the nearest gas station to make a phone call. The gas station is now a tire shop, but the phone booths are still there.)

Side of the tire shop (yellow in the pic above) now has a mural of that movie poster.

Those books were fucked up. I read them before I was 13 irrc. I cannot imagine seeing the movie as a younger child.

I watched Bone Tomahawk as well for the same reason. It was just an okay movie.
I've not gone back to it yet.

I was chewing on tongue in mexican red sauce when that scene happened. I believe I'm too horrified to go back and see how the movie ends.

Videodrome

I am halfway through The Platform and haven’t been captivated like this for a long time. As of right now I give it like an 8/10 or 9/10. Very unique.

Some of the weird/dark ones I remember as a kid:

Quest for fire.
Midnight Express.
Dead Ringers.

Nice. Love this movie and just watched it again recently. Inka Dinka Doo.

Anyone mention Sin City and the follow-up, A Dame to Kill For? Those are dark and I love the style. Another is one called Dark Country, has Thomas Jane in it. It has a similar film noir style as those.
