Flexpipe and EMT exhaust. Buddy wanted it straight pipped, we comprised on a washer muffler. Sort of like lolipops for motorcycle drag pipes, I welded 6 washers in a pattern to try to quiet it down a little. If its too loud, or sounds bad, it will get a cheapo glass pack.
For giggles.
Propane parts. Nashfuel was wicked helpful getting us all the missing pieces
Tank in the back. Scored a deal on 2 used tanks
This part was a little funky. I dont think this is a stock radiator and the neck stuck way out, and the owner didnt want to move the battery or get a new rad, so this it how we came up with mounting the mixer. It did t fit just going straight off the intake. (radiator hose has been trimmed)
It will start and sputter on gas, but we cant get it to run on the propane. Its bubbling out of the middle of the mixer (where my finger is, about 1/2 way around) Were going to try to get a rebuilt for that and go from there. ..
This propane stuff is new to me, so please feel free to chime in is something looks like it wont work.
Got the runner out in the wood for a few hours, and it is working awesome.
If your friends dont unlock your hubs while youre not looking, are they really your friends?
Bringing its old engine back to the spare parts pile.
Few quick clips
Back to normal shitbox things. Has a set of 5.29s to go in and the front springs need a couple more leaves in each one. Besides that its back to business as usual.
Propane conversion parts sells all of the mixers, throttle plates, hoses, and fittings needed to convert many carburated gasoline engines to a propane engine
20 days till the clubs winter run, time to get some stuff fixed
My friend got a deal on a used hydro assist ram and an already tapped box. Got some hoses made locally and using TG mounts.
We have a set of used 5.29 3rds to go in to take the crawl ratio from 84 to 108:1. which is good because the front 3rds showing some signs its tired.
Went to unbolt the high steer arm to camo method the hubs off and one of the studs was broken a few threads below the surface. Built it up with the welder, welded a washer to it, then a nut to the washer and impacted it off while it was still hot. Success!
I believe he ordered the highered gun 5th stud tabs to hopefully help this from happening again.
One of the fag trunion bearings came apart when the high steer arm came out, so well be replacing all 4 of those with something quality because Im sick of them. Haha.
And if we have time, well do the 7/16th studs in the lock out, because one of those was also broken. We also need to change the front leaf packs up to add a little more height as these ones are flat. Which is great for crawling, but rough for bombing around.
In october he sheared off his high steer arm. GROAN. 5th stud kit sitting on the bench at home. We were able to winch the truck back up to a workable space, easy out two of the bolts and pulled a lower stud from each side to get it back together and out of the woods. The group kept going and a few of us stayed back to help.
Two hours from broken to sitting out by the trailer is a good thing! After that we caught back up with the rest of the group.
That night we got it fixed to wheel the next day.. Welded nuts to the broken studs and got them out. Pulled the knuckle to get all the broken pieces out, cleaned it up with new/used studs and a new trunion bearing and its ready for day two.
It worked but after a few trips one stud is striped in the knuckle and they keep coming lose; it needs a better repair. Were going to put a new knuckle on the pass side and do the 5th stud kit because it doesn't do any good sitting on the bench!
Tab welded on. Forgot to take a picture of the nut welded, but its on there too. I put a thin washer between the tab and the knuckle in case the arm ever needs to be reshimmed.
Since it was apart and I had just done this on my truck, we did the 7/16th allen heads for hub bolts.
Holes drilled and tapped. 1.25" 7/16-20 for the bolts.
When we put the used gears in Jan of 23, the rear diff had two 1/2 chipped teeth. With not enough time to order parts, we tossed it in (didnt even clean the goop off) It made it a whole year through 10+ wheelin trips and a summer of logging. But, it finally broke yesterday. We are all surprised it made it this long. New parts on order, well start fixing it next week.
