Daily Driver tool kits - what do you carry?

POS Amazon tool kit, jump pack, Dewalt battery powered compressor, tie downs.

Edit: cordless grider, 3/8" impact and drill driver.

This POS has served me well.

All the tools to do all the things; sockets, ratchers, extensions, pliers, screwdrivers, vice grips, big ass c clamp, tie wire, some bonus nuts and bolts, hoses, barb fittings to repair hoses, . Jumpers, pipe wrench, fluids, Bluetooth code reader, u-joints, spare CPS, axe, drilling hammer, ball peen, drift, spare tire, cordless m18 light, 3/8 m12 impact and ratchet, viair and plug kit, extra long air hose, ammo can of electrical stuff from fuses to wire, to multimeter and heat shrink, 12" spikes, ratchet straps, zap straps, plumber's all round....I think that's all of it.

I like to be prepared to keep myself on the road or help others.

Blow molded socket set:1/4,3/8, 1/2
Jumper cables
Tow strap
Moving blanket

15" Tool bag:
Various screwdrivers and wrenches, vise grips, and pliers
Cheap multimeter (this has helped more people than anything else in the bag)
Zip ties, electrical tape, paracord, and I think there might be JB weld in there too.
cheap OBD scan tool (I bring a nice scan tool on longer road trips, this has helped a lot as well)
Various opened bulbs, connector and fuse packs along with a little bit of wire
Small HF 12v compressor
I also have some misc bicycle tools to help out at the trailhead.

Everything fits nicely behind the back seat and isn't too difficult to move to the wife's car if we're taking a road trip.

I bought new it's 3 years old now , none needed yet.

I carry a cell phone.:flipoff2:

What about when there's no reception?

I'm leaving Monday for a 1000km drive, roughly 600km will have no, or shitty, reception.

When we hauled from Brooks Alberta down here to the island I asked the fella at Uhaul what to do if we have a flat.
"Just call us, we'll send someone out."
"What if we don't have reception?"
"Just call us."
"What if we don't have reception?"
"Well, just go to reception and call us."
There were times on main highways that we didn't have reception for 3 or 4 hours:laughing:

The topic was what you carry in your daily driver, I would think the implication is for every day scenarios. Not 1000 km road trips.

I'm taking my daily driver.

But seriously, my daily commute is only 20ish km, but weekends I tow for 300ish km minimum, 2 weeks ago was about 1000km round trip. So all the shit I carry is in there every day. I add spares for bikes and specialty tools like tire irons and spoke wrenches on the weekends too.

I like to keep my Kia, my main daily commuter, basically empty aside a sunglasses, umbrella and dog hammock & bedding in back seat. Nothing worthy to steal.

I like to pack a bunch of things in my truck, though lol. Fluids, floor & bottle jacks, chains, ratchet straps, recovery strap, basic tools like set of impact sockets with cordless impact wrench for quick tire change to not sit on side of road long. Tool sets get packed in if going on a wheeling trip.

DD = truck = my work truck

Things I have. Toolbox with a mix of pliers, wrenches, ratchets, sockets, screwdrivers, hammers, pipe wrenches, etc. The toolbox has zip ties, and various nuts, bolts, and washers. A bag with ratchet and pull straps. Recovery equipment including soft shackles and a kinetic rope. Some type of lubricant or penetrating oil, usually WD40 and PB blaster. Also a vivair air compressor and heavy jumper cables.

I have one of these in about everything I own.
It's enough for most problems that may arise.
And the occasional trip to the junkyard for some rando piece.
My recollection was that they were sub $100 when I bought them.
But that was before Bidenomics made us all so rich.

My trucks a 2021, other than changing a tire what the fuck am I going to do if it breaks down?

I got the 108 pc dewalt set for free during a promo years ago.
All my cars have one now. Cheap, compact, almost always has what i need. I have some extra stuff loose in it like swivels.
edit. That set is what i use in my work trucks. 99% of the time thats all i need. If i need more, ill walk back to the truck for the bigger set.

All jokes aside it really depends on how much of a shitbox it is. I carry a lot less tools these days.......

Plug kit, cresent wrench, chineeeese multi tool, small socket/wrench kit unless it got borrowed for somethin.

This is true. I mainly carry my toolbox for other equipment I’m working on.

In my wife’s DD I have a cheap Amazon 12v compressor, a plug kit, some jumper cables, and a small zip up tool kit from harbor freight.

Just a fire extinguisher and some ratchet straps. Nothing more because I live in Oregon and it will get stolen.:flipoff:

Cheaper on FleaBay

I just refreshed my truck's tool bag as I went to use some tools and a lot of stuff was missing. So off to HF I went.

Plus I keep a large Noco jump pack for the DMax, a Viair 350 compressor and 10lb extinguisher. Also a medium sized trauma kit since I shoot or instruct nearly every weekend.

I can drive less then 2 minutes in most directions and have no cell service. That said, im not really in the middle of nowhere, and most folks who pass stop to check on you.

Tow strap, jumper cables, jump box, tools to change a tire, screwdrivers, wrench to change serpentine belt, serpentine belt, pliers, 2 gallons of water.

Leatherman, 12v compressor and the factory tire tools plus whatever shit I happen to have forgotten to take out of my car.

If I need more than that I'll get a ride home to pick up my truck and trailer

... fixed that for folks near big and/or democrat cities

It didn't use to be like that, but along the colorado frontrange, the people are not what they used to be

I'd be less concerned about a rig broke down on the side of the road than one out in the brush
