Daily Driver tool kits - what do you carry?

Tools.. sae & metric

Hammer
Hatchet
FAK
Fire extinguisher

Makita cordless chainsaw, recip. Saw grinder and adding 1/4 impact and drill

You dont carry a spare head, valves, springs, headgasket, timing belt, head studs, turbo, and injectors for them kraut wagons?
nah, if I can't limp it home then I call dad to bring a tow strap
Eventually I'll have to set them all up for towbars, so I can hitchhike home and drag it in myself

Nothing. My phone I guess.

I made up a small tool kit in a roll bag to take wheeling. I guess I could throw it in whatever I decide to drive.

My DD is a 2000 Tundra. My "toolkit" consists of the following:

tow strap
code reader
jumper cables
pair of slip joint pliers
pair of diagonal cutters
10mm combination wrench
1 spare ignition coil
screwdriver with interchangeable bits
everything necessary to change a tire
AAA card

Cooler full of beer.:flipoff2:

All I need.

Besides the basic 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 sae and commie sockets and wrenches. Straps, baling wire, duct tape, spud wrench, air chucks, tire gauge, hand cleaner, jumper cables, spare blades for the different cutting tools I carry, shovels, Burke bar, fluids, chain, drill bits...damn, I carry a lot of shit. Good thing it's a wonton :flipoff2:

Every shitbox gets zip ties, tire patch kit, fire extinguisher, jumper cables, basic combination wrench set and 1/4+3/8 socket set with screwdrivers thrown in if the socket set doesn't have them.

One of the shitboxes has a first aid kit because I had it and tossed it in there. Two of the shitboxes have flaring sets. Ranger and the daily shitbox have chain come alongs and tie downs.

Tire chains get tossed into the relevant vehicles in the winter. Ranger and Aerostar have straps and chains and shit that kick around specific to the kind of shit they have to do.

Edit: Shit gets way more expensive when you multiply everything by 6 instead of 2 or 3.

Tire patch or plug kit? You busting tires off beads on the side of the road, or do you just run 'em flat until they unseat themselves?:flipoff2:

You drop the car down as the jack and use the rotor as a bead breaker you caveman. :flipoff2:

The cars I don't drive have combined patch and plug kits that I bought from China years ago and have shitty handles you gotta be careful with. The ones that get used most have Slime brand plug kits.

I really should toss a couple valve stems in each glove box. I've lost one on the road before and the "break the bead with the rotor" trick applies there too.

The fact that I literally have a bucket of 100 valve stems by the tire mounter factors into this.

Might pick up a set of four and toss them in the most used vehicles because that beats trying to seat a bead in the field.

AAA and a CC. Always keep a $100 note tucked away just in case. Most of my cars have a mini type 50pcs tool kit in them, the 'i don't own any tools but have this' type thing. Just for the random. Road trip I will normally pack some stuff up, but other than that just roll with it. Hell the BMW does not even have a spare tire ha

You might wanna check those. I had to replace the 10mm socket on the one that I tossed in the girlfriend's car because the 3/8 square was broached undersized and wouldn't fit anything.

Do you hate your dust shields or have they all returned to the earth?
I cut them off before they give me problems. A few got pretty far along the way toward returning to earth though.

Well that'll pay for a lockout. Not sure what else it'll getcha these days:laughing:
It'll get the AAA tow truck driver to look the other way on something he shouldn't.

AAA for a lock out- but that would mean the doors get locked- which is hard with the keys in the ignition :flipoff2: Cash is always a good thing to have, never know what situation a $100 bill gets you out of (gas/fuel/paying for help etc./ late night tire that someone has, hell even a lot lizard if you are stuck and bored :flipoff2:)

Grandma always said keep $0.35 with you just in case you get in a bind and need to use the pay phone. One and only time I ever tried to use a pay phone it was $0.50.....:flipoff:
