What's new

coldest spot in the 48?

I grew up in Gunnison, CO it's been in the top 5 coldest spots in the nation as far back as I can remember.

Gunnison must be the coldest in CO, but I'm thinking somewhere in ND?

If you add wind chill maybe ND. I’ve heard people say International Falls, MN for coldest at least around here.

Big Piney, WY is frequently the coldest place in the lower 48. I know I spent one of the shittiest days of my life working on a drilling rig in the middle of winter on a mountain top just outside of Big Piney.

look south

I wanted to call bull shit when my buddy told me eagle nest New Mexico years ago. but I have pulled up the temp many times and that place is the coldest. that valley runs north and south and just gets freaky cold. you would think the lake would keep it warmer.

Somewhere around Lolo Pass was the coldest but I think it got broke last year. Either eastern MT or maybe even SPearfish, SD?

31 there right now. They can kiss my frozen ass.:flipoff2: Already been out on an ATV this morning.

So you are talking average low temperature during winter not record low.

It's gonna get below 50 in NE Florida tomorrow night.

Bundling up like a muthafucka.

There are reasons I left Colorado. Cold is a major one.

Eagle's Nest is cold, but it is not the coldest place in the contiguous states by any measure

Spearfish isn't that bad. Sits just above 3000 feet. I lived there 3 winters. Lots of little towns in Wyoming that sit at 6000-7000 that get cold as all hell.

Fraser, CO gets the nod from google as having the coldest average temp.

It was 24 degrees yestermorning when I got up... To early for this crap. :homer:

Supposed to be a warm winter though, at least that's what the weather channel says. I won't take that as gospel.

it was this morning. and it has been many other days I have checked. but fuck its in New Mexico.
You should have clarified you were talking about this morning :flipoff2:

Here's Eagle's Nest compared to Peter Sinks for instance:
