I'm not arguing that point one bit. Was/is it wrong? Yes. Do I understand why he threw them the bone? Yes.

You are however, 100% correct. Nothing short of a complete firearms ban will make them happy. Then, they will just find something else to be crusaded.

They can make laws about almost anything they want. I don't see this one being stopped on 2a grounds, as it's just a piece of plastic.

Why is Marijuana illegal? I don't think the Supreme Court ruled it so.

An auto sear is just a little piece of metal. Every gun part boils down to a little piece of plastic or metal. Congress doesn't have the authority to regulate firearms, parts, or function. They do anyway, but I'd love to hear them defend it in front of the SCOTUS.

Same reason the Feds didn't appeal the brace decision. They'd lose. Current case law says regulatory agencies can't make rules, only Congress can make laws. It's a matter of time before that argument is heard at the SCOTUS.

Yeah i remember it really taking the wind out of the sails on the push to ban “assault weapons” that gets momentum after a sensationalized shooting.

Not a good move or look for Trump no doubt. A real miscalculation. Also think its dishonest to use as evidence that Trump is somehow anti 2A.

Don’t forget Trump also wanted to ban silencers in 2019. Sounds anti 2A to me.

When it came out that Trump was implementing a bump stock Ban, I smiled and probably mentioned it here. I'm no lover of Trump, but, I could see it and I bet his administration seen it, the ban would be overturned. That's politics years ahead. The same reason I voted for that bastard... To keep Dems from loading SCOTUS with communist judges. Just don't buy into today, look far down the road.

This is one of the problems with DJT, he doesn't understand how these firearms function, and doesn't appear to care about 2A. Same with him not being a fan of suppressors, how come?

I wouldn't say he's anti 2A. He is inconsistent on basic principles that cannot be compromised.

What other compromises to basic principles is he willing to make? That's a big problem.


Also, in 2017 the GOP had control of both chambers of congress and the presidency. Had anything like an "assaults weapon" ban gotten through, it would have been with their active complicity.
