I know you don't pay attention to blowers much since you're a turbo guy but how do you feel about the supercharger on the 00s Mini Coopers?

One popped up at a local junkyard and I'm thinking about yanking it. Seems like it would cobble onto a Subaru real well since they have the air going in the back and the pulley on the front and it's in the right horsepower ballpark (140 for the Subaru 168 for the mini).

I took the EDIS off and went back to stock.

This would be a 5-7lb endeavor. I don’t wanna do anything that involves more air than the stock system is ok with. I don’t have the ring gap for that anyway.

Got the shit together, about 10mi in I start thinking about how I didn't check the main bearing that feeds this rod bearing
15mi in it starts making much worse knocky noises than before
it was 100% stacking both shells the last few times I push started it while rolling through stop signs (piston hitting cylinder head HARD), but it made it into the driveway

now I gotta pull the engine from the insight project and stick that in

Everything on this pig is just done, the crank's junk, the block's been honed out once so it'll need a bore job, the head needs its lifter bores bushed down to hold oil again, timing belt's got about 10k left until it's due, water pump is 10yrs old so it should be junked lest it sieze and take out the timing belt...

three of the rods and pistons are still good, but I've only got a couple 'standard' bore blocks left, so even they're not all that useful ATM
I should just be culling a lot of the worn out junk that I've got laying around

All of our engines were pretty well fixed up while I was too young to understand what was going on. The only engines that I've pulled needed freshen up or had extra crankcase "vent" and low on rods .

This one could conceivably be freshened up, but it is way far down on the totem pole of "value" relative to the other cores laying around.

Actually slept in this morning. Got up at 6, showered (and brushed my teeth…) and was in the shop before 7. Got just one barrel done by 8:30 including swapping out a chamber reamer and had the shop shut down by 8:45. Then had a video call with my Dr, and then I to town to get some meds. i know someone who has a VW TDI, but it has electrical issues and needs a radiator...2011 or 2013,I think its a Passat? 4 door car with a salvage title...he want $1300. he fires it up to move for mowing, discos the batt cable until next time. bee good for and engine/trans swap, then part out the rest, its not wrecked, looks clean, but he doesnt even advertise it. located in SW OK.



actually DID something today...took the trash to the dumpster(1/2 mile away) and rolled up about a 1/3 mile of used rusty barbed wire...living in the country for peace and quiet is hard...LOL
