you use your vise's jaws to support the file so the edges don't get bevelled as bad
works better with bigger straighter soft jaws, but who doesn't like bigger softer straighter things

course I fuckin filed too much off
ah well, gotta think on what I want to do now
motor might be coming out, or it might get a mismatched rod cap, or I might cut a shim

what about the bottom part of the engine?

Laid in bed until like 11 as it was raining. Felt like it was going to be a play xbox all day day but then the stupid sun decided to come out.

Was going to work on the insulation in the shop but picked up the first sheet and immediately said fuck that. Started putting the head back on my skid steer instead. Got as far as I could but the gasket set I bought has the wrong intake manifold gaskets :shaking: Then UPS dropped off the new gas tank for my dirt bike so pivoted to a work on the dirt bike day

It's Saturday, I woke up at 10am, and I give exactly 0 fucks

:flipoff2:

Tomorrow I probably won't wake up til 11 or 12 lol
Tomorrow I gotta get up and planning on getting breakfast from ma & pa local restaurant. Then back in my fab shop for a full day building deer stands. I’ll rest when I’m in my deer stand hunting in November :flipoff2:

My ADHD kills me on projects, planning to do thi… shiny object, off doing tha… shiny object…

Setup and ran some FCAW beads on my new Hobart MVP210 I bought summer of last year . Bout it. Hoping to get the 4 link in at some point, job stuff has just been weird for the last year and a half so big projects have been put on hold. The 4runner drives so keeping it that way for the time being. Dirtbiking tomorrow though.

Spent half the day doing dishes and laundry.

Pulled my tent trailer from one patch of weeds in the yard, to a slightly smaller patch of weeds.

About time to crack a beer and go do some reloading.

Got to the beer.

Didn’t make it to the reloading, got sucked into a little gunsmithing instead.

Painted some trim around a window

Helped my son cut some plexiglass to replace the windows in the vintage aluminum camper shell he installed on his 74 K10 Stepside .

It used to look like a 80s magazine show truck that had fallen on hard times ,
6 inch lift , 10 inch wide slot mags , big tires ,‘chrome rollbar with KC’s, sidepipes , but with lots of dents , patina and bondo falling out etc

It now looks like a mobile meth Lab

Spent a couple hours adjusting the striker plates on my front door again , evidently the house is settling a lot and I gotta re adjust the plates ever few months .

Aired up the tires and fired up the bronco for the first time in months , other than backing it out of the garage yesterday so I could get the wife’s mini cooper in to replace the water pump
(That’s a fuking fun job )

Wife drove my expedition , so Used the bronco and Took some glass bottles to the recycling center
Dropped off a bunch of brand new Duluth trading pants I got for Christmas that didn’t fit at the thrift store
Someone is gonna hit the jackpot at the thrift store getting brand new $100 pants for a couple bucks

Store was having a sale , all the clothes were $1 , so naturally I found a bunch of dress shirts and t shirts

invited my son and his new wife over and grilled some steaks

Watched a few episodes of Raising Hope , the funniest show I’ve seen since My Name is Earl went off .

And got out the maps and did some preliminary route planning of the trip me and Mrs roundhouse are taking to Maine , Vermont and New Hampshire next month to celebrate our 30th anniversary.

Congratulations!!

1. On knowing how to use a map

2. Being together for 30 years 🥳🥳

We are new to the RV thing. I want to wander all over as soon as we can, while we can :usa:

Thanks !

We met on a blind date .
before internet dating there was newspaper dating .

I did plenty of driving and traveling when I was a trucker , now I kinda like to sit still.
Preferably on the front porch of my one room shack in the mountains , but lucky if I get there one weekend a month .

Worked 11 hours, won an argument with the office door, now waiting for pizza to show up and working on consuming a pint of something vaguely resembling an old fashioned with a beer chaser and making sure my chair doesn't escape.

Close enough to nothing.

Eearly morning coed activities, AC on before noon. Brunch and margaritas on the rocks (the healthy kind w turmeric, ginger root, lemon zest) then down for an hour long nap when i got frisky again so she kicked me out of the bed. Cleaned the fridge out (said i was going to do it 2 weeks ago) and made early dinner so basically, not jackshit all day.

Thanks !

I met Mrs at work while I was in training. She stopped by to say “Hi” to someone when we met. After some chitchat I asked her if there was anything to do around the area (I had just gotten out of the Army). She told me to meet her at the local watering hole on Friday. We met, and we have been together for thirty two years, married for twenty six.

Ok, what are all you slack jawed slackers up to today? Rinse and repeat?

still sanding the same journal
it'd help if I had a micrometer here, but instead I'm just test fitting it

I'm to the point that it turns, but not gently
got some ancient plasstigauge laying around that'll tell me what the clearance is once there is clearance

Do you seriously not own mics or is it a case of "not here"?
I have two mishmash sets, 0-18 chinese and 0-20?" american, only got the really big ones because they kept showing up for retarded cheap
but yes, they're not here
having shit spread across five zip codes fucking sucks

anyways, didn't plastigauge the shit, the 'tight' place was 90* off tdc, so of course the block skirt was in the way to bolt the cap on there
no point in measuring the 'loose' side

I was up until after 1 am this morning. Laid in bed avoiding getting up, then checked my phone around 8am. I had a message from one of my customers that she didn't have any water. I got up and dressed and had it fixed by 9:30.

I know you don't pay attention to blowers much since you're a turbo guy but how do you feel about the supercharger on the 00s Mini Coopers?

One popped up at a local junkyard and I'm thinking about yanking it. Seems like it would cobble onto a Subaru real well since they have the air going in the back and the pulley on the front and it's in the right horsepower ballpark (140 for the Subaru 168 for the mini).

I have had a shower, and he put my knee cart together. First runs didn't go well for my good foot or my bad foot. :lmao:

I was hoping I could use it to clean the kitchen and do dishes, but I don't think I'm talented enough.

Father said I need a bike helmet. He's not wrong.
