What do you all do when the hospital requires a chaperone?

Ive been trying to get seen through the VA for bad acid reflux for going on 3 years now, finally got a referral and appointment with them and I find out it's for scopes at both ends when they sent "the paperwork".

Woulda been good info to know :laughing:.

But they are requiring someone to sign me out after I'm done, I can't apparently drive myself. Clinic said "friend or family"
Well, family is 5000 miles away, and I'm not asking any friend to take time off work, if they're even in town (few do FIFO work like me)

Called the taxi place and they said they can pick me up but aren't signing shit.
 
I seriously wonder how much, or even If, an Uber would pick you up.
 
I once had the same problem. Running my own business and there was no way I could take that day off, I asked the Doc "What if I do it without any anesthetic?" He told me I would be good to go but just a warning, you ain't gonna like it.

I made it through the throat scope and it really brought the suck, would not do again. When it was time for the back door I noped right out of it and said put me under and do it good.

I woke up half way through the back door part of it and well, imagine what it would be like to get prison raped by big John, well it's gotta be 10 fold worse. I started yellin' STOP STOP I am awake.

I hear the Doc say hold him down and he finished up.:frown:

Nate recommend you find an Auntie or something and have them put you out good.
 
I have spent the past three evenings unloading my buddy's pod that got dropped off at our guest house. We were going to let him stay rent free till he got his feet under himself. Long story short, he is in Utah with a Cancer diagnosis and will be for quite a while. I'm planning a trip there soon to visit him soon, and your friend can't take a day to help you out? Get better friends!!

nobody on here is actually alone ever
They will all tell you what a great place loneliness is, but none of them have been alone for longer than 4 hours since birth.

which is to say... I don't fucking know either.
Wanna help pour some concrete in exchange for a back massage and some cuddling? Of course not.

That’s awesome of you to do, but I know where Nate’s coming from. It’s not that one of his friends wouldn’t take a couple of hours off and help, he doesn’t want to put that on them. I feel the same way. It is none of the hospital’s fucking business what your social life entails. As long as they are covered by you opting to take a cab, they’re out.
I do see the case for them not wanting to let a recently drugged person drive themselves home though.

This is a beautiful idea. You and Nate could bring a lot of enrichment to each others lives.
