A wolf in Jeeps clothing - Goatbuilt 1200 LJ/TJ Chassis build

I tinkered in the shop last night with a little hose routing. I drew these up in solidworks and had my little brother 3D print them out of polycarbonate filament. They are cool little pieces that are surprisingly strong.

The little notch is for a 3/16 hardline for the front brakes. A hose clamp and a little heat shrink tubing and boom, hoses routed from the ram to the orbital!

you should add the files to the CAD library, making a setup like this has been on my to do list for quite a while. awesome work on this thing, I love these goatbuilt builds.

I will try to figure that out. I have a bunch of cool stuff I could add.

I had to visit family this weekend, so no real updates. I did however just pay the invoice for my Gearworks HP10 thirdmember for the front end. Aaaaaaannnnnnnnddddd I'm broke. :lmao:

Between the third, a large order at Racewire Solutions, buying a set of half doors, materials to make a H-pipe, and a bunch of misc crap, I know what I am having for dinner for the forseeable future....

Being single, no kids, no house sometimes has its upsides. If I spend too much money on parts, it doesn't affect anyone buy myself.

Same boat as you.......just me at the house.

I thought after I bought all the big pieces, I was good to go. Not even close. It's those million other $100 things that just never stop coming. Worst part is that once you start getting down to ALL the little stuff, you're so deep into it that all you can do is keep pushing forward and dropping the coin.

Luckily I have a cat who might let me share his food:grinpimp:

I have a dog, I never even thought about him sharing his food with me, normally it's the other way around.

And yeah, the nickle and dime shit isn't nickle and dimes. It seems like its $100 bill here, $100 bill there.... Where will it end, no one knows.

Sometimes I think this whole project is kinda silly. Being 32, those funds could have been spent a LOT smarter. But, at least I don't have a loan on a pile of parts that hasn't moved in almost 4 years.

the last 10% of the project will consume 90% of the time and budget

I'm putting a new steering system in my rig.

RD parts bought. Ouch, but that was planned.

Who knew that AN10 and 12 fittings were so expensive. Of course have to buy 2x of each, just in case the original plan doesn't work. Glad I did.

And the firesleeve, and the fancy swepco fluid...

$500+ in misc shit, right there.

I hear ya. I was talking to a customer the other day who has an exhaust setup very similar to mine, and he said it was LOUD. This jeep will be "loud" enough once it's painted bright orange, I didn't want an obnoxious exhaust. I did a little digging and found out adding a H pipe would help with the harshness and maybe quite it down a touch. I ordered 2 v-band clamps, a ss bellow, and some 2" SS mandrel bends. That little project will be close to $300 all said and done......

Got a box delivered from Racewire Solutions today. This is going to make my life quite a bit easier! Quality is top notch.

Column mounted multifunction switch.

Make sure to test it. I installed one of these kits not too long ago and one of the turn signal wires was wired wrong. The brake light wiring had to be modified too.

Still, I couldn't build one for what we was asking so I'd re-use again. Just make sure to test the functions before wiring.

I just use a full size battery and a test light.

Another issue I had was using LED lights. This whole kit, or at least the one I got, was made for classic bulbs. The blinker needed the higher amp draw. I ended up using some inline resistors to get around the issue.

I think it comes from a Kubota tractor or similar

I've read that a resonator in front of the muffler can help quite a bit. Each working on different parts of the sound.

I'm going to try the resonator/muffler first. If it's still too loud, it'll be two mufflers inline. Don't have room for anything else. I can't even fish any kind of H or X pipe in there.

I wish I could do that. I MAY have to get creative if it's too loud and try to run the exhaust out the back.

That is my entire exhaust system....... There isn't room for much else.

This is where I was thinking about adding the H pipe. I would like to run in infront of the trans vent if possible. Will it do goofy things being that close to the O2 sensor?

turbos make the exhaust quieter ... just saying
I need to get this running and driving before I add a rotary muffler. But that has crossed my mind more than once. Adding a turbo is the main reason I wanted to run the air filter in the cab. It would make adding a turbo EZPZ.

Damn, your exhaust looks shorter than mine will be, and I have a gay ass 4 door.:flipoff2:

Don't take this to the bank but, I don't think the H will hurt having it nearish to the O2 sensor. The job of the H is to aid in scavenging.

You can take this to the bank, I know for a fact the H will not hurt having it nearish to the O2 sensor. The job of the H is to aid in scavenging.
Quoted for the future.:lmao:

Got the inner fenders done on the passenger side. I was really really dragging my feet on doing that, but it's done enough until I tear down for final welding.

Re-ran the trans lines (had to cut off all the mounting tabs to install the fender top panels.)

I need one -8 ORB to -10 adapter, a few p-clamps, and need a few fitting crimped, then I think my power steering is pretty much done!

I was going to use the clamp provided to mount the resi to a tube in the engine bay, but didn't get the warm fuzzies with that system. I made a removeable bottom mount that will work well, and serve two purposes. I may also add a small tab and use the mount included with the resi as a redundant mount. When the suspension goes from full bump to full droop, the hydro lines from the orbital to ram move around a bit where it bends at the upper link. I am thinking either a bungee cord or an extension spring can be mounted to the lines and then to the post in an effort to keep them out of the firewall.

didnt see any provision in the pics, but that reservoir mount needs an addition point of contact
